Notes: I plan to apply to Vassar (and every other college) as a film major. Can anyone give me some feedback of what my chances might be? Any recommendations on schools I should consider applying to? I've looked at Ithaca College, NYU, and Syracuse which I could probably get in to but are way too expensive. I just don't think I could get into USC or Northwestern University. Any feedback or comments would be great!

Also forgot to mention I received a $4,800 scholarship to attend summer program at Northwestern. I have over 200 volunteer hours.

Bump. Please, anyone?

I think that you have a chance of getting into Vassar! Although you have an average GPA, you have incredible EC’s and volunteer work. Your awards show you have passion, devotion, and skill. You also hold leadership roles. Update us when you get your SAT score! Good luck :)

Will do! Thank you. Also, I’ve reached out and spoken to a student at Vassar and she strongly urged me to apply, one of the supplemental application questions asks how you heard of the school, so I hope that will help some. I don’t know if this matters either, but my high school ranks in the top 6% on U.S. News & World Report, so it’s at least somewhat competitive.

More notes: I have completed 3 years of Spanish and I’ve taken up to Precalculus in math.

Yeah, that will help. I’m also applying to Vassar this year and it will be one of my reach schools (my resume is nowhere near impressive as yours!) Best of luck to you! :)

Bump again, any other schools anything thinks I should apply to? Where do I stand in terms of getting into Vassar ED? Any current or prospective film/arts majors have some advice?

Being honest it’s still a reach. The average GPA for acceptance is 3.8 and the middle 50% for ACT is 29-32, with 31 being the average score. Not saying you don’t have a chance, but try to get your test scores up to at least par with their admissions statistics, applying ED will help. Good luck.
