Chances for Vassar ED?

<p>I'm going to be a senior next year, and plan on applying early decision to Vassar... But I'm not sure how likely I actually am to get in. Is there anything I can do to put my best foot forward? Does being Hispanic actually help at all?</p>

<p>Hispanic, High income, Immigrant Parents (from Argentina), Autistic brother (may write about in essay?)</p>

<p>GPA: 4.0 weighted
SAT I: 2080
SAT IIs: Spanish Language- 790, USH- 760, Biology- 780</p>

<p>Junior Year APs: US History (4), Biology (5), Spanish 4 (5)
Senior Year APs: Economics, Psychology, Calculus AB</p>

<p>A's and B's Freshman/Sophomore Year, straight A's Junior year</p>

<p>EC's (not many, but I'm very committed and passionate about them):
Friendship Circle- work with children with special needs every other Sunday (all year)
Theatre Productions (most of the year)
GSA (officer senior year)</p>

<p>Awards:
National Spanish Exam- Gold (99th percentile)
National Merit top 50,000 ... further results still to come</p>

<p>Summer:
Month in Italy w/ a host family, took Italian language classes
Friendship Circle summer camp (kids with disabilities)
6 week Internship organizing summer camp for 2010</p>

<p>SATs are low, but given that you are URM I would say you have at least a 50/50 chance.</p>

<p>I’m thinking of taking the SAT I again, considering I got 720 Reading, 630 Math, 730 Writing- I think I could probably pull up the math section. I suppose this would be a good idea then?</p>

<p>Hey - I’m applying ED to Vassar too! Seems like a good shot, especially because places like Vassar love diversity so URM helps more than it would in a big university. I’d definitely suggest studying for the SAT and retaking - I brought my math from a 530 to a 660 that way - and trying to emphasize your devotion to your extracurriculars.</p>
