chances for Vassar

I really want to get into Vasssar but my grades are really really bad, i have a 3.3.-3.4 unweighted GPA.
But my test scores are good, 1530 SAT, 10 SAT IIs with 750 or above on all of them and 13 APs with 4s or 5s on all of them.
I have never taken a regulars class in high school and i have taken 13 Ap honors courses in the past 2 years. I have 2 leadership positions and i did orchestra for 2 years and Lincoln Douglas debate for 3 years.
Is this good enough for me to get in during regular admission or should I apply early. I am also an Asian male in Texas, does that increase my chances?

You seem like an amazing student from looking at your stats. Your unweighted gpa isn't that bad, especially since you've obviously taken very rigorous courses. On top of that, you're a guy so I would say that you'd have a great chance RD and an even better chance ED.

Im doubtful of what we think our perceived advantage is being males applying. Maybe Vassar is looked at by more women than men but its female to male ratio and what not is about the same as for many other liberal arts colleges. Where did this idea that guys are in short supply for Vassar come about?

Well I heard that their class of 2008 male:female ratio is close to 30:70 which is extreme. So they will be looking to recruit more males if that is the case. And besides, just because that's the norm at LACs doesn't mean that the schools don't want to balance the ratio. So I think it will help us, maybe not a whole lot, but it's a boost.

Is it true that most of the people at Vassar is homosexual. A friend of mine told me that heterosexuality is like the alternative at Vassar, lol. I don't really care much since I am extremely liberal and support gay rights and marriages but is that true????

I'm pretty sure the majority of the people at Vassar are straight, but there is a sizable gay community.

10 SAT IIs? No offense, but what exactly is the point of that?

Also, high test scores don't mean a whole lot at Vassar. Grades and personality count a whole lot more. If you want to get in, write uniquely intelligent essays!

i took 10 SAT IIS was because my grades were really bad. I didnt think i could make it into an ivy school due to my grades so I probably will apply overseas (oxford doesnt look at high school grades, only SAT, SAT II and AP)
thats why

Vassar has the reputation of being a "liberal" school, and has always prided itself in encouraging individuality. When I attended many years ago, the college catalog soundbite was "Vassar College is not unique- every Vassar student is". The gay and lesbian community is outspoken, and embraced, as are all the minorities. The GAL community is not the majority. I wish that rumor would go away. It is a wonderful school. I am probably closer to my Vassar friends and their families than I am to my grad school friends. I enjoyed the opportunity to visit with several of them when I did the college tour bit with my s. last year. Good luck.

Vassar, as I take it, is one of those schools that gets a lot of qualified applicants, as I think you are, but they like to take students that really want to be there.

That being said, if you wrote a really good why vassar essay I think you'd have a great shot.
