Really good RECs including one from painting professor at Centre College.

And most importantly, an excellent portfolio, praised at National Portfolio Day by colleges as well as professors at various other colleges. It got a 5 on the AP Studio Art exam–and I’m going to school for Art, so this is a huge part of my application. I did Studio Art my Junior year, and so I still have a couple months to refine my portfolio for portfolio day in the fall. MICA gave me their highest rating and said my portfolio was scholarship competitive.

The schools I am applying to are as follows, in descending order of how much I want to go to each:

Washington University in St. Louis: School of Art

Skidmore

NYU: Gallatin or Steinhardt

Grinnell

MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art)

Macalester

SUNY Purchase

How would you rate my chances at the above schools?

why not shoot higher? i think ur in at all the schools like 66%+ at all... that said, why not go for columbia or brown... they have amazing art programs

I guess you have a valid point, but I also need money, and at somewhere like Columbia or Brown I think I am far less likely to get what I need to be able to go.

one, two, bump

Agree with others might want to look at some other schools like Duke as a reach. Also if interested in Latin/classics might want to look at Holy Cross which offers merit scholarships in the classics.

hah, latin is long gone after it hopefully helps me get into college, but thanks for the suggestion

all that bull about it not being a dead language, cmon, i mean seriously.

aaaaaand bump

Skidmore looks like a good school for you. I recommend you visit the College, which you will find can satiate your well-rounded background.

Similarly, I suggest you pay a visit to St. Louis to gauge the vibe you get.

I've visited both an dreally like both skidmore and wash u, im putting wash u as my top choice because of stronger academics and newer facilities, although skidmore was pretty top notch too
