Junior from Kansas
Business/International Business Major
I’ve always planned on just going to KU, but recently became interested in Washington University in St. Louis. Slight difference. So...do I even have a chance at WashU?

PSAT: 212
I have a chance at National Merit Scholar. The last three years for KS were 212, 211, 211 (the 211’s being the most recent)
Hopefully my SAT and ACT scores will improve from this. I didn't prepare for the PSAT. oops.

Class Rank 17 of 487
Unweighted GPA: 3.94
Weighted GPA: 4.09
I should graduate with a 4.4 to 4.6
My Class Rank should go up as well.
I go to a public highschool. We had two National Merit finalists and two perfect ACT's in the Class of '10.

AP Classes:
AP English III
AP English IV
AP US History
AP US Government
AP Environmental Science
AP Calculus AB

Four years of Spanish
Eight years of Orchestra (Cello)
Two years of Model UN
2 year Sewing Club member
2 year Student Mentor
Prom Committee
Student Council Rep/Cabinet Member throughout Jr. High and High School
In the school’s gifted program
National Honor Society
Two time People to People Student Ambassador (6 weeks total-France, Italy, England, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji)

just get a good SAT score around 2050 and above and you should be safe for WUSTL. Your cello will definitely complement your portfolio. Good job. Please chance me

Can you elaborate more on exactly what you did in each of your activities? Your participation in each sounds potentially interesting…but as of now they do sound a bit like a laundry list.

I’m not sure about the SAT scores for Olin School of Business at WUSTL, but it is ranked in the top 15. For Arts and Sciences, most people I know who got in have a 2250-2300+
So aim for at least a 2200. Good luck!

You have an excellent chance! Your psat scores indicate you getting in the 2100’s which ACTUALLY is the accepted student avg (not 2250-2300’s), and your GPA is great.

Note that 2100 is only the average (if ED2Please’s research is correct) People I know who got in and went to WUSTL have at least a 2200 (and that’s on the low end)
Of course, the higher your SATI, the more competitive you will be.
Your GPA is good.
I’m sure you spent a lot of time and talent in your extracurriculars, but I agree with zenith that they sound a bit stale just from how you wrote about them.
So WUSTL = reach at the moment.
