Your SAT could be a little bit higher, but you'll need to take the new SAT anyway, and many people seem to do well on the writing portion. You also need to take one more SAT II.

I would say you have average chances. You have everything an applicant should have, but you don't really have a spark that would make you interesting enough to the adcoms. Your best help in getting you in will be your essays.

you have a solid chance, however you will be facing extreme competition since you are "white"

also, you should emphasize one passion...

Right I feel I need some kind of passion that I could focus on... I was thinking possibly Politics... I will be taking the new SAT and plan to get a composite of around 1500-1550 and a writing of about 700

now is not the time to discover a passion.

if you were passionate about politics you would be researching articles and writing and basically getting involved.

If you don't have some amazing trait, it's really hard.

haha well darn then... i guess im just not an interesting guy.... No but seriously I think I can develope a good essay and I think i am fairly into politics. What do you guys think writing a REALLY good essay takes?

Lots of time. Don't be the sort of person to work on your essays a week before the application is due.

An essay? Essays take...spark. Luck.

I wrote my main essay about my addiction to news, in simple conversational tone with a short bit of dialogue near the end. It flowed. It had life and humor and personality -- all those things you can't do by formula. My Yale-specific essay was about my sport, but while writing it I realized why I really loved it -- the other people with me. And so I wrote about them, and my small role in their lives.

If you write an essay and come out knowing more about yourself then when you started, it's probably pretty good.

Why do you like politics?

I like politics because i like influencing people to see my way of thinking, which I am pretty good at.

i hope you are well read in history and understand a lot more than the shallow concept of realpolitik... but... w/e.... could you be able to discuss canadian foriegn policy...

do you think a multicultural thing is good?

if you answered yes to both, then you don't understand history. :p

Hmm. There's an essay there, but with that alone you'd have to be careful not to sound like an arrogant jackass spreaking the One Truth or whatnot.

Any other reasons?

i dont know i have to definately work on it :|
