Hey everyone! I've never used the site before so excuse me if this is the wrong place to be posting for this.

OK So I visited William and Mary and LOVED it but I'm really unsure about my chances of getting in. I feel like I haven't really gotten an unbiased opinion on my chances of getting in so I was wondering if anyone could help me figure this out! I'm also hearing its increasingly tough to get into Villanova EA and was wondering about that. Here are my stats:

GPA - Weighted: 3.72 (I have noo idea unweighted sorry!)
Class Rank: top 9%
Class Size: 245
the school sends a large number of kids to competitive colleges.

Scores:

SAT I Math: 720
SAT I Critical Reading: 710
SAT I Writing: 740

took SAT II's in math 1 and lit but awaiting the scores
my essay was well reviewed by my peers ( all AP classes read everyones essays and rate them at my school)

Never been in a class lower than honors, but my school does not offer many AP's so I'm only able to take AP Lit and AP Calc, I took AP US Hist last year and got a 4 on the test.

Any feedback at all would be great! I'm applying to American, St Joes UNiversity in Philly, Northeastern and maybe Cornell so anything else you guys wanna throw in is awesome.

haha yaa hence my problem and the reason I'm looking for feedback from people who don't know me. thanks for your feedback though! it might help that I'm applying regular to william and mary tho.

Out of state is a very important factor in decisions at William and Mary, but with your test scores, your GPA and your ECs I think you have a very good chance of getting in. Are you applying regular or did you apply ED?

Just remember every situation is different. The girl with great test scores may have no personality or may not participate in many ECs or maybe something else... college decisions some times are appear to be very weird, yet it is what the college wants when they are reading your application.

interesting that you mention personality, because thats what my supplement for william and mary was about, so maybe it will help me! haha
and i know its just a crap shoot but i hope i get lucky =)

It is hard OOS for W and M and UVA but as someone mentioned there are more factors than numbers, but also I've usually heard that the numbers are pretty important for UVA and W and M OOS. I don't really know though. Your SAT I is good, although I don't know how they'd see your GPA/rank, it would depend on your school profile I guess.

I'm not sure if you just do gymnastics as a high school thing, but W and M has a club team so even though they obviously have no recruiting power, it might still be a way to show interest in activities the school offers you could get involved in. Just a thought, I don't really know how much that helps but it might a bit.

I plan to cheer at whatever college I go to, they all have decent programs.. I'm captain of my high school team and 4 year varsity member.. and I practice with the W&M team when I visited the campus haha and I LOVED them.

but the gym team was practicing at the same time as them and after watching realized I definitely do not have the depth as a gymnast to be on the gymnastics team.

As an oos alumnae with four kids now in-state, I think you surely have a shot at W&M. Yes, it is really tough to get in (tougher than UVa which most don't realize), but your scores and EC's are good, certainly within their acceptance range. Your GPA may be your only questionable stat (tough to tell w/o knowing how things are weighted), but remember that W&M gives a lot of weight to interest and you surely have that in spades. If you didn't apply ED, I suggest that you highlight your prior experiences with the cheerleading team somehow in your app and update them with any add'l honors you may receive after the app is in. Let them know how much you want to attend and support it with the why. The more interest you can show, the better. As an aside, it is easier to get in oos now than it was 20 years ago due to Va's budget crunches and the disparity between in-state and oos tuition rates, although that might be little comfort to you. Lots of luck! It was also my dream school after my 4th grade visit to Wmsbg and it didn't disappoint!

thanks so much! i actually did play up all my cheer accomplishments on the commonapp in the short answer section so hopefully that will help. all these posts are making me feel alot better about this haha.
