Hi, I’m an in-state senior wondering about my chances for William and Mary. I’m worried because my GPA isn’t as good as I wish it was, although I do have a reason for junior year grades being lower (Concussion).
GPA: 3.54
Test scores: 33 ACT and 1491 SAT
Course load: 11 rigorous APs taken throughout high school (Physics, History, English)
I’ve taken music lessons and sung in school choir for years, won awards doing Mock Trial and debate, been accepted to a Georgetown law institute for high schoolers, played soccer for most of high school, and did a lot of community service. I’m in several honors societies and I’ve been told my essay is pretty good. My senior year course load is rigorous, and my grades are much better than in previous years. I’m also African American coming from a majority white school. What are my chances?
bro same stats as you but I had a 1150 sat, WRITE A BOMB ESSAY, make them cry, make every AP english teacher read it. YOU GOT THIS.
^bomb essays are always good
Also, if a concussion is the reason for your junior year grades being lower than your others, make sure to note that in the additional comments section of the Common App and/or have your guidance counselor make note of it when they send in their recommendation and such. Admissions will understand, and an upward curve always looks good anyway. Everything else about your application looks great, so I agree with PHY, you got this! Good luck & Go Tribe!
