Chances for Williams?

When I visited campus, I fell in love with it - the honor code, the tutorial classes, the outdoorsy activities, the Berkshire Symphony Orchestra, the fact that it is such a community. I was just wondering what my chances of admission are.

Thoughts?

bump…

It looks like you have a great chance, especially for ED.

Thanks a bunch…I’m really worried because it’s the #1 LAC and therefore uber competitive.

Is there an honor code? If there is they don’t emphasize it the way some other schools do.

I would suggest applying ED. There is a financial aid calculator on their website that is straight-forward if you need to know if you’ll get aid.

[Honor Code - Confluence](Unauthorized) <- Yep, there is, but they don’t shove it in your face.
Thanks for the tip…I’ll try to find the link

I can tell you it’s certainly worth applying…your academic credentials are more impressive than mine were, and I’m a member of the Class of 2015. But I think I got accepted because of an interesting, successful musical background and an emphasis on my penchant for learning in general, rather than just raw academic achievement. I would suggest that you market your academic side in a way that points more to your future proactivity within the Williams culture than simply letting it speak for itself. Also, I see a great way to define yourself in terms of service to your community through your activities.

Don’t worry about Williams’ rank. Though I sincerely think it offers an undergraduate liberal arts education superior to that of any school with a comparable reputation (i.e. Harvard, Yale…), there are many schools where the odds will be more against you in the admissions process. I can really only speak from my personal experience–I didn’t get into Tufts, Georgetown, Bowdoin, and a few others, while I ended up having to turn down schools like Harvard and Brown in my decision to enroll at Williams. Frankly, school rankings don’t necessarily correlate well to admission competiveness on the basis of the individual applicant.

Hope this helps!

Your stats are competitive but by no means a sure lock. As you seem to note, you have a better shot with ED. But is there any compelling reason that you want to ED to Williams?

You are a very strong applicant. Best of luck.
