Chances for Yale, Brown, Cornell, Penn?

First time posting here, don't really want to be too specific, but here's my college list.

Yale-
Brown-
Cornell-
Penn(legacy)-

Georgetown
Tufts
Barnard(safety?)-

I have a 2310 SAT, around a 3.9 GPA, and will have taken 7 AP's by graduation.

EC's include leadership in varsity sports and clubs, tutoring, summer programs, volunteering, two internships, and published research. Also have studied a few different languages.

EC's are probably my strongest point, even though I don't want to go into detail here.

I have the exact same SAT scores and a similar GPA umweighted. Your scores are solid. What is the rigor of your coursework? I think the published research helps your app a lot. You have a great chance at any of these schools.

I think rigor is pretty hard…we’re only allowed AP’s jr and sr year, but no one really takes them, maybe 1.

Your stats are consistent both with those accepted into the 4 schoosl you led with and are consistent with those rejected from those same 4 schools.

For example, Brown says “no” to about 80% of valedictorians, about 70% of those with perfect (36) ACTs, and about 3/4 of those who scored an 800 Math SAT or an 800 Critical Reading SAT. For those with 750 -790 SATs, Brown rejected about 85% of applicants.

So . . . Go For It . . . and know that these schools get so many applications from so many talented students that it’s important for you to have a safety school or two available, because althought stats like yours will get you considered . . like thousands of others . . they also match the profile of those these schools said “no” to.

Good luck!!! and love thy safeties.

I know that…those are my reaches, I have lots of safeties. But how am I looking for the other 3?

Anyone else?

Bumping this?

I think that you have a chance at most of these schools depending on how well-written your essays are. Your legacy will help you at UPenn but even though your scores are high I don’t think that you should be making Barnard a safety.

Chance me back http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1143593-ill-chance-back-chance-me-liberal-art-schools-ivies-ucs.html

Unless you’re a minority I have no idea since all those schools have like a 10% acceptance rate

not a minority…and yea, i dont really know too much about barnard.

bump…

bump again

You are definitely in the running for those schools. Although no one can say for certain where you’ll get in (I know people with amazing grades/scores/EC’s who didn’t get into Ivies and I know people who alright grades/scores/EC’s and who did get in), you have a decent shot. It will all come down to your essays, but you are a strong applicant. And you will probably get into Tufts and Barnard.

So I’ll definately get into at least one of the above?

What are my chances for each in terms of reach, match, etc. Should I put Barnard as a reach or match/

Barnard would be low reach (maybe high match?). It’s very difficult to get into. But your stats are pretty good.

I think Barnard, Tufts, and Georgetown are matches, Cornell Penn high match/low reach and Yale Brown, low/mid reaches, but if your EC’s are as good as you say then you should have a good chance.

My EC’s are by far the best part of my app, pretty much. So if that gives any perspective.

You definitely have a great chance. Just make sure your essays glow.

thanks…anyone else?

bump again.
