i’ll be honest extra cirriculars could be better.
broaden your horizons.
play a sport,
join band.
make it show that your diverse

Mediocre chances, but URM status might help you.

I am much more optimistic than those above. Your chances are great given you are an URM.

Well, I’m Cuban, so I don’t know if that will hurt or help since Cuban-Americans tend to be more affluent than other Hispanic-American groups.

“i’ll be honest extra cirriculars could be better.

But ONLY do it if you care about what you’re doing. Wasting your time with activities for the sake of adding to a college application won’t do anything. You need to show your passion.

15%, it sounds brutal but its no higher or lower than any other CC member I would say and quite a bit higher than the national average.

He has a much better chance than 15%.

Ya…I am no expert on college admissions, but he definately has more than a 15% chance due almost solely to his URM status. If he were white or asian, his chances would definately be about average or around 7%, but because he is cuban, I say 35-40% chances.

I don’t really agree with Rtgrove. URM status is a bonus, but it’s not a 20-25% bonus - well, okay, if you were a tribally-affiliated Native American with those scores, I’d probably have to eat my words. You’re a perfectly average reasonably competitve Yale applicant, which is actually a GOOD thing (it means you’re pretty much excellent), but I don’t see anything particularly special that would make you stand out. Therefore, I’d say you have the chances of just about anyone else… I like that 15% number.

URM status is worth a lot, even though Cubans aren’t really URMs but anyway… I’d say 40 to 50% chance, guestimating of course…

Agreed, especially at top schools like Yale URM is going to be very helpful

if you don’t raise test scores, around a 35% chance. if you do raise them, then a 50% chance.
