JOBS: maybe something

Quality of Essays: REALLY GOOD ( i write pretty well )
Teacher Recs: good

SORRY FOR THE LONG POST PEEPS, but WILL I GET IN????

u gots an okay chance :D

I think you are in really good shape. Definitely Ivy League material. I really think you could get into ANY of the schools on your list, but whether or not you will is up in the air. I would say you have:
99% at State Schools/Lower Level Colleges
85% At top LACs and schools like Notre Dame, Georgetown, Hopkins
82% at Stanford
80% at Dartmouth and Cornell
77% at Columbia and Brown
75% at HYP

You are a really strong applicant overall. Just write good essays and get good recs.

woah, definitely have to disagree, dreamsofivy. few people have that good of chances.

desigrlz4britbyz is an overrepresented minority from an overrepresented state. she’s female. that makes her chances at almost all of these schools exponentially smaller than many others.

that said, her scores/GPA and ECs are all pretty superb.

northface, I completely get what you are saying, but you need to realize about 4000 kids are going to be accepted into each of the Ivies. If there are 4000 students out there with significantly better stats than this, then I would love to meet them. I have a friend with 2140 SATs, mid 700 SAT IIs, and a decent GPA, and he got into Cornell. It isn’t impossible, and this girls ECs are ridiculous. Almost all leadership. Her GPA is near perfect and her courseload is ridiculous as well (not many kids can say they took AP Bio their freshman year). So, maybe I posted a BIT high, but to say that she has a 3 in 4 chance of getting into Harvard isn’t too out-of-hand, i dont think.

dreamsofivy’s percents are bit higher than what I would have guessed, but they aren’t much higher. Your application looks excellent.

lol @ 82% at Stanford. and even 75% at HYP.
be realistic.

publishing a novel looks pretty good.

but "SORRY FOR THE LONG POST PEEPS, but WILL I GET IN??? " makes me doubt your maturity in writing an essay.

strong applicant? yes. gonna get in? good luck with that one.

it’s not just about stats. just wait until Hmom5 comes in here, ha. She’ll tell you all about how a large percentage of the acceptances at each of these schools is reserved for minorities, recruited athletes, and other “hooked” candidates. that said, i still think she has great chances. just remember that these schools are harsh. they could dislike something in her essay and throw her app to the wind.

stats aren’t everything.

the sheer amount of leadership positions would lead anyone to doubt the amount of commitment that is shown to any of them. I’m gonna be a bit harsh here, and say half these positions are simply positions and OP does not have interest nor does she dedicate much time to them (in other words, simply BS). You can only list 6 on the app anyhow. I count 9 leadership positions and a billion more clubs.

gimme a break.

Here’s the deal… Yes, you are a strong applicant. And yes, you probably could get into at least one (in all likelihood more) of these schools.

But I think since you’re probably going to have a bunch of schools to choose from, you need to pick what’s right for you. Whatever you do, don’t pick just on name alone. Yeah, having Yale or Harvard on your resume will be a big help, but you can still excel from another school that’s not an ivy leage… after all, it is just an athletic conference. There are tons of great schools out there that aren’t Ivies- Georgetown, Carnegie Mellon, Bowdoin, Bradeis, Northwestern, U Chicago, NYU, Williams… the list goes on. You seem like a smart kid and will do well wherever you choose, but make sure you REALLY think about where you want to end up, not just about the name.

ECs that are good:

volunteered in Hospital in INDIA (for 3 weeks)

publishing a novel

started non-profit

2 years in a row STATE Championships (Sophomore and Junior Year) debate

LIAR

you said you won the state tourny your soph and junior year in LD …
since your profile says your from CA, i fact checked you…
CA hasn’t had their state tourny this year yet…
it takes place april 24-26…

■■■■■

Ehh good job at being low profile Miss Irvington High School.

what do you mean by “i’m publishing a book”?
does that mean you have a book deal with a major publisher, or does that mean you are going to write something and work really hard to get published?
If it’s the former, I would say you have really good chances at all of those schools, major hook.
If it’s the latter, then don’t count on it.
I’m not sure about some of your EC’s especially the National Society of High School Scholars (scam). but otherwise looks good.

I see naive people…The OP is clearly a ■■■■■ making a disgusting attempt to stereotype Asian students…

Haha funny.

If you are a real person…

Congratulations on your outstanding accomplishments. You are an unbelievable applicant and i honestly think you have an excellent shot at getting into any school in the country.

I really think you have a great shot at Stanford because you are in-state, and even though Stanford isn’t a state school, they still have 36% in state students. People on this website make it seem waay harder to get into college than it actually is. This is one of the best students in the country!

If i had to make up a “perfect” fictional college applicant, he/she would look a lot like you. You should be fine at most of these, even in the running for some scholarships.

Good job

the scores are too low to be a stereotypical asian. With that being said, I guess i fail at being an asian then.
