Chances for Yale RD........

<p>I'm pretty active on the Princeton board-applied to Pton ED but I was wondering how my chances were for Yale RD. I'm planning on majoring in Bio or Biochem.</p>

Marine biology research in a local private university.</p>

Pre-College at Brown. took a 3-wk bio class.

<p>Additional info:
I currently run 3 websites. Have been doing website designing since 7th grade.
I play the piano and the flute.</p>

<p>Essays: English teachers said were great, I think they're pretty original.</p>

<p>Recs: good/great.</p>

<p>So...do I have a decent or above average chance of getting in? I know my leadership isn't all that great, but..yeah.</p>

<p>Extracurriculars are not that great. Academics are excellent. Depends how much Yale likes your school...I know those competitive NY schools are well-liked by Ivies. Do a lot of people get into Yale from your school?</p>

<p>They are not bad! It's just that Yale rejects amazing people all the time...you have to if you only take 1 out of 11 applicants. Closer to 1 out of 12 actually.</p>

<p>How were those students who got into Yale in previous years? Were they a lot more impressive than you? Not that you're not impressive. You look great as far as stats go. It's just crazy.</p>

<p>Your EC's aren't very good at all and you greatly lack leadership. Your academics are obviously amazing but that's about it. This is when the subjective stuff like essays, the interview, and recommendations become very important.</p>

<p>Im really jealous of your academics lol. I mean universities always say they stress academics above everything else, which probably gives you a boost. ECs i think show committment which is good. i disagree w/ evil asian dictator. u dont HAVE to have leadership all the time! i think u can thrive in a place like Yale. u seem fit for it. But don't listen to me lol. just believe in urself! :)</p>

<p>i don't know, i wouldn't say her ECs are weak. They could be very strong depending on the 3 websites you are running. Anyways, what state are you from and what are your 200 free, 100 back and 400 (? we only have 500) free times.</p>

<p>:) I felt really silly putting National Society of High School Scholars in the academic distinctions in my college app. I'm sure they know it's bulls**t, but i payed the 40 dollars, so i may as well use it...</p>

<p>I don't think it's the best idea to put that, because it sort of even undermines your real awards.</p>

<p>H20Poloer, i'm from NY. my 200 free time is a 2:02, 400 free 4:15, 100 back 1:10. As for the websites I run: one is for Tri-M (music), another is for saving the environment (that type of thing), and another is a fansite for an actor on a tv show...lol. ive been doing website design for about 5 years now, so i can make pretty good layouts and graphics on adobe photoshop and stuff.</p>

<p>BTW, I know you guys are all saying my ECs are lacking, but I've heard so many times that it's more important to be committed to a select few activites than participating in too many.</p>

<p>I'd agree that it's more important to have a much stronger academic record than say more ECs, but schools like Yale are looking for it all, and expect to see that you've pretty much got it all around. But nevertheless, your academic record is very nice, and if you do well with your interview and give the admissions committee enough inside into who you are through your essay you shouldn't need to worry. goodluck</p>

<p>Yea Princeton early!! Anyways, I like your test scores a lot, and your ECs are pretty good. I guess a major factor will be your school transcript. But I think you'll get into Princeton ED and not have to worry about this. Adios</p>

<p>I don't know my unweighted GPA. I have 3 B+s on my transcript, 2 for Math (our math courses are unbelieveably hard), and 1 for Bio Honors. The rest are As and A+s.</p>

anyways, before I do get some, I gotta tell you that you have a great chance at Princeton ED bc I know 2 really smart people from my school that are applying early and your stats totally kick their stats' butts. end of story. good luck!!!</p>

<p>Oh yeah if it counts for anything, i also was a finalist in this modeling competition two years ago. But i didn't include it because it seemed silly.</p>
