thanks in advance for any opinions!!

excuse me--these are what you consider mundane stats?
come on, your stats are very competitive for Yale.

haha thanks a lot.

i reallllly hope its not just an ego-booster, because i can only imagine the other applicant's outstanding national/etc achievements.

ahhh any help?

rubik.. as in rubiks cube? if so, who the heck cares if you are world champion at rubik'ing cubes

It's interesting...it makes him stand out from the other applicants.

WinstonChurchill :

Can you solve the cube?

i think you have an excellent chance. With an essay that shows your personality and a couple of thoughful recommendations, you should be set.

thanks..
my serious estimate is that i have a 10-20% of getting in max..

=(

how far did you make it in siemens

not far at all last year,
this year the report is more thorough, though the results are stilll pending.. just submitted it before deadline of Oct3. =</p>

u don't have a bunch of EC, but they are solid. so yea, very good

How many ECs do you expect him to have? There are only about 6 spots for extracurricular activities anyways.

for what its worth, i did EPGY, Quest Scholar (both at stanford) and COSMOS science program for UC's .. also was on Academic League, Debate Team and Soccer for school..

although most of that won't fit on the apps anyway..

When you say, Westinghouse, does that mean you won? Because if you did, you know you're in. Westinghouse team, don't know what that is.

ummm.. no
westinghouse competitors may compete in the TEAM event of up to 3 people.

You must be terribly busy since you are the president of four clubs :)

Don't diss the Rubik's Cube thing -- I put it on all my apps and used it as my primary college essay (record avg. 14 seconds blindfold average 1 minute 45 seconds). I think it can help you stand out. I don't know if it helped me or not but I got into Yale and other Ivies. So, I say stick with it.

As for the rest of your app, your scores are just fine as is your rank. Your leadership position in four clubs is also a big plus. I'd say you have a pretty good chance :)

pshhhhhhhhhhhh. your stats are sooo incredibly average [note: extreme sarcasm]

don't worry. you have a better chance than many. and you probably know that there are no guarantees.

lots of competition.

Yeah, I'd say you have the competitive stats they're looking for. Doesn't mean you should slack off if you can still imrove them, but you're within range.

Now you have to make yourself stand out. I think the Rubik Cube's thing is great. I hope you come to Yale and you will teach me how to do it super fast... I just undid my cube a couple days ago and its not cooperating very much =(.
