I have a 3.80 gpa and am going for psychology.
This is my fourth year at a cc however..
I'm doing my best to have the best gpa this semester as possible, but it's currently looking like I will either receive a 3.75 or 3.5 gpa this semester.
I do have extracurriculars over the course of my high school and college. I'm vp of math club, secretary of a club that helps undocumented students, and volunteer at a church helping special ed. students. I was also vp during one semester of my class in high school.
I'm also a 0/1st generation Mexican-American that grew up in a somewhat "ghetto" neighborhood.

Also, 3 of my major prep. classes will be taken next semester...

What do you guys think are my chances?

What can I do in my applications to have higher chances?

Personally as an applicant and accepted student I believe you have a pretty good chance of getting in. Your current GPA is at par with other accepted students for pre psychology for fall 2012, and your expected GPA is just a little below (source: [Profile of Admitted Transfer Students by Major, Fall 2012 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof12_mjr.htm)). Obviously that’s just an average, so essentially people with lower GPAs and higher get accepted. I always suggest to my friends applying that if you have no extracurricular activities you should have a job. I believe UCs are looking for students who are using their time wisely, either by getting involved in clubs and sports or paying for school by having a job. If you have both that’s even better, hint hint. The main thing I want to stress to you is that the top two UCs (Berkeley and LA) really look into the essay portion of the application, so never be too afraid to brag about yourself. Talk about your experiences and how they affected and formed you as a better and more resourceful student. Personally, the essay is all I had going for me. I didnt have any of the stats or extracurricular activities, but I did have a full time job and two essays which I expressed my entire struggle and perseverance. I had a friend who was the perfect student; I mean he was taking all engineering required courses: ochem, calc 3 and up, modern physics, and all GEs and aced all his classes. He essentially had a 4.0 and was one of the hardest working students I have ever met at a cc. He ended up applying to the same UCs as me, but got rejected from Berkeley and LA. I was completely dumfounded until he showed me his personal essays. They showed nothing about who he is or how hard he worked; all he wrote about is how he liked math. All I want to express is that the essay is also a major deciding factor so good luck and dont forget to start on your essay early and make it a reflection of who you are.
