If I don't have the best chances, how can I make them better? Thank you (:

Given you are a senior, all you can do is make sure you write really good essays. Or build a time machine, re-do high school, and get a higher GPA and better SAT score. Actually, building the time machine alone should be enough to get you admitted, no matter what your other achievements are.

That said, your GPA is basically par, maybe slightly below par for admitted students. Your SAT is slightly low as well. Your EC’s are more-or-less average. I’ll say your odds are about 40%.

Depends which school/major you are applying to and if you are applying early decision. I’d put you at around 25% for early, 15% for regular overall

Everything you’ve shown is ‘in the range’ for Cornell, but nothing really stands out.

(I note that you play Hockey and Lacrosse – if you are good enough to play for Cornell in either of these sports – that would stand out and help your chances. Since you haven’t mentioned it, I’ll assume not).

So, it’s likely to come down to recommendations and essays. The thing you have control over at this stage is your essays.

Unsolicited advice – in reading your post, I noticed a couple of grammatical errors. No big deal for a CC post obviously, but make sure that you go over your essays carefully.

Other thought – I honestly have no idea whether 15% Jamaican qualifies you as a URM. (I think that 25% is the threshhold, but am not sure) You should research this, if it does, it could be a big boost.

Thanks for the feedback! My marking period GPA’s for junior year were 4.3125, 4.4625, 4.375, and 4.375, with A’s and A-'s in all classes including AP Calculus AB and AP Environmental. Will they consider the fact that I wasn’t working up to my full potential in the previous years because I wasn’t aware of the importance?

UT – your grades show an upward trend. Which is a good thing. The common wisdom is that an upward trend is good and will be taken into account.

However, keep in mind that you’re competing against students who had solid grades Freshman, Sophomore and Junior years. Solid grades throughout is a very good thing.
