Chances getting into Andover, Deerfield, Choate, Hotchkiss, or Taft

Hi everyone,
I am applying to prep school for 9th grade (I am currently in 8th). I’m wondering what my chances are getting into one of these schools.
(I am female if this helps)

SSAT:
(I have not yet taken it. I am getting 641-680 on the practice tests for each section, which is not too great in my opinion)
GRADES:
Algebra: 98.86
Drawing/Painting (2D Art): 98.13
French: 95%
Language Arts: 100%
Orchestra: 98%
PE: 93.33%
Science: 98.97%
Social Studies: 96.96%
(The end of the semester is this Friday, so I’ll keep you posted.)
INTERVIEWS:
I just had my interviews at Deerfield and Hotchkiss.
In my opinion, both went well. My Hotchkiss interviewer sent an email to me the day after. I emailed my Deerfield interviewer to thank her, I’m hoping that she responds soon.
I am having more interviews in the upcoming weeks.
ECs:
-I play viola
(I am in the first stand in my local (county) orchestra. I am first chair in the chamber orchestra at my school. I am first chair in my school orchestra. I am also auditioning for a county festival (an orchestra), and I am sure that I will get in.)
-I draw and paint A LOT. I have entered no competitions, but I am thinking of making a portfolio.
-I have participated in National History Day for 2 years now. Last year my exhibit was about Forensic Science. I interviewed many people, and I created a model of a jail cell. If you are interested, I can describe it in more detail. I spent at least 300 hours total on it, I’m guessing.

TEACHER RECOMMENDATIONS:
I have not yet gotten my teacher recommendations but all my teachers really like me and (my math teacher especially) thinks that I am a model student and I always try my best etc etc. MY DAD WENT TO ANDOVER. This increases my chances by almost 50%

Thanks for reading all of this. I am really hoping to get into a couple, especially Deerfield, Choate, and Andover. What do you think my chances are? Thank you for reading this.

I think your chances are great! Can’t go wrong at any of these gems. Of course, I’m prejudiced for the school upon the hillside. Forever true to gold and blue. But loved Hotchkiss as well. Going to Deerfield Day next weekend. Good luck!

Thank you so much! That is really comforting. Is there anything I can do to improve my chances?

I think you would be able to get BUT it all comes down to whether you fit in to the school or not, which the admissions team has been doing for a long time so they will find the best for you. It’s also hard to tell without test scores, and since I am also applying to Choate and Deerfield and two other schools, I am taking the ISEE in ten days! Also it good to have your parent from there, but I don’t think it’ll increase your chances as much. If your dad was an amazing, well known student that did something amazing for the school, it may increase your chances a little bit, but otherwise not. This is because if it increases your chances that much, everyone that attends Andover must have Andover relatives which is not the case

Thank you! Yeah, my grandmother said that she read somewhere that having a parent that is an alumni at Andover increases you chances by 30% or so. I’ll be completely honest, I find it hard to believe. I just took the SSAT yesterday, and I don’t think I did very well. I know what I need to improve in and I have two more shots. What was so hard for me was getting everything done in the limited amount of time. Reading Comprehension was very difficult for me, but I am taking practicing tests and developing a strategy of my own. Good luck to you!

^^ If you listen to Andover’s State of the Academy on Youtube (either 2015 or 2016, I don’t remember) they announce the statistics of legacies, I think it was around 20-30% but I don’t remember

I just got my test results and I got 87th percentile. I got 93rd in math, 84th reading, and 71st in Verbal. Are these good scores, or should I take them again?
