Chances getting into Emory?

Hello. I am a senior now in high school and I'm planning to apply to Emory in January.

My questions are:
1. My dad is Emory alumni and I was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Does that increase my chance getting into Emory?
2. Since my parents cannot afford full tuition, I'm in a situation where I cannot go to a university UNLESS I get 100% scholarship.. Is there a way or certain standard I must meet to get a full scholarship from the school? I have a dual citizenship (U.S. and South Korea), and should I apply as an international applicant or U.S. citizen applicant for a greater chance to get a good amount of scholarship?

Thank you!

If your dad is an Emory alumnus, that will help. Where you were born will probably not matter.

I have to emphasize that Emory asks you and your family to pay what you can, not what you’d like to. At the same time, Emory does have Emory advantage. If your family makes less than $50,000 a year and has usual assets, you should expect to graduate with no debt. If your family makes between $50,000 and $100,000, your federal loans will be capped at $15,000 total–you should additional amounts should be replaced by a grant. [Emory Advantage](<a href=“Emory Advantage | Emory University | Atlanta GA”>Emory Advantage | Emory University | Atlanta GA)

Definitely apply as a U.S. citizen. Emory guarantees it will meet 100% of demonstrated need to domestic students, but not to international students. Also, you might qualify for federal grants that international students are ineligible for.

Try to increase your SAT CR score as much as possible, and make sure to demonstrate interest by attending information sessions/tours.

If money is a huge determinant, try to get your SAT score as high as possible and apply a lot of places. If you can increase your scores a bit, you might even apply for the Oxford Scholars program at Emory’s Oxford College.
