Hey, I've been pretty stressed out about my SAT score - a 1730. I have a good gpa, 4.1 weighted, 4.26 uc/csu, and 3.95 unweighted. I do three sports every year (wrestling, xc, and track) and I'm ranked 4 out of 320 in my class. I've read online that the average SAT score is around 1900 and the average gpa is 3.94 for the admitted freshmen. Gaahhh!! Please somebody tell me my chances!

P.s. If you've seen me make other posts, it's just that I'm trying to get as much opinions that I can get.

Supposedly my cousin did horrible on her SATs (approx. less than 1600), and she got into Davis (attending). She had a lot of leadership and community service, as well as scholarships and sports.

How is your weighted GPA lower than your UC GPA?

Also, just retake the SAT and try to improve.

Wow you are ranked 4/320? That’s pretty amazing… At my school, the top 10 people all have 2300+, so you probably just had a bad day on the SAT. Try retaking it.

I have no idea, that’s just what it says on my transcript. I am planning to take it agian, but what I need to know is if that score is something that they would overlook if I put it in my application. That doesnt mean that if they are that I will just not take it again.

Does your transcript include a UC GPA on it? Typically a UC GPA is lower than an uncapped weighted GPA because an UW can include as many honors (5 credit) classes as possible while UCs cap them at 8.

I have no idea what you’re talking about hahaha. All I know is that my weighted is 4.1 and my uc/csu is 4.26. But aside from that point, my question is still left unanswered…

UC (and CSU) GPA includes grades only from 10th and 11th grade courses in the a-g subject requirements. Up to 8 semesters of honors courses with C or higher grades are given +1.

A student whose lower grades were in 9th grade or in courses other than a-g subject requirements may have a higher UC (and CSU) GPA than overall weighted GPA based on +1 for honors courses (especially if the student did not take a lot more than 8 semesters of honors courses). Weighted GPA might also have different weights than UC (and CSU) GPA weighting for honors courses.
