Chances (GWHS?)

<p>Hi all... I'm a high school senior (white, male, small Catholic school in Ohio recently named as a top 50 Catholic school) and I just applied RD to W&L. I'll major in political science I was wondering if anybody had ideas about my chances for admission or merit aid (George Washington Honors).</p>

<p>Hey there-- I'm a freshman at W&L and I did Honors Scholars last year. To be honest, I don't really know if there is a standard profile for a GWHS; it's a pretty diverse group of people. It sounds like you have an excellent resume and I think it's great that you applied; you definitely fit the range of criteria that the admissions office looks for in their honor scholars. If you're named a semi-finalist, my advice to you is to come to W&L for your interviews as enthusiastic about the school as possible; what I think really set the winners apart last year (and really what sets W&L students apart in general) is their friendliness and enthusiasm for becoming part of the community here (and I mean that outside the realm of academia, too). Don't let the students here intimidate you to the point of reticence-- they are interested in you and really genuinely warm and excited to have you. Good luck in the scholarship competition!
