Chances here?

I applied on 8.24 but MSU didn't recieve my transcript until 9.21 for some reason. Regardless, they still haven't made a desicion according to the admission status check on msu.edu. I have a 2.87 cumlative through my junior year, I took three APs up until then and am taking one now. 28 on my ACT and two-sport varisty athlete. What are the chances I get at least deferred? And if I get deferred and not accepted, what would I have to get 7th semester, GPA wise, to get in?

MSU doesn’t like to reject people this early. You will most likely get deferred. There is no way of knowing what you have to get in order to get in. Just keep a rigorous schedule and do the best you can. Shoot for a 3.5+ at least.

Do you have an upward trend? Is that a weighted or unweighted GPA?

That’s unweighted and I have a very upward trend. Since sophmore year my GPA has gone up every semester.

That’s really good. They understand that sometimes people have a hard time adjusting for freshmen year. With that said, it’s still going to be tough with a < 3.0 GPA even though you have a really good ACT.

Just do the best you can senior year!

Best of luck :)!

How big of a factor do you think the upward trend is?

Upward trend is a big factor. Admissions people at MSU always mention it. I agree with romani that under 3.0 makes MSU a reach. I would be very surprised if you are not deferred because they will likely be interested in seventh semester grades.

Say I get deffered, get my ACT to a 30 on December 11th and get a 3.5 (or better) 7th semester. What do you think my chances are then?

If things go according to your scenario, I’d say your chances of getting in are pretty good (meaning 75/25).
