I also may have the french girls’ mother write one.

Potential benefit: Brother graduate magna cum laude from the D in 2008, Summer camp director that I work for likes me and both she and her husband graduated from 'gate..she could possible write rec?

Anyone? 10ch

Colgate should be an easy in for you

What about the other schools?

Dartmouth: 25% chance
Midd: 60% shot
Colgate: In
W&L: 70% chance

If I were you I would take the SAT. The biggest thing holding you back is your ACT score. Some people do much better on the SAT, its easier to study for (ie “game”) and do well in my experience.

I did SAT- 1930
my ACT is much better.

Sibling legacy doesn’t affect admissions.

Dartmouth is the only school that’s a high reach on your list. Everything else is either a match or a safety.

Yes, your ACT might hurt you, although it will by no means put you out of the running. Another problem is your SAT 2, but if you do well on Lit I’m sure it will be fine. Your ECs are great. I think you have a decent shot at all of those schools.

@Spatula

Are you SURE that sibling legacy has no effect on admissions? Of the 9 people that got into Stanford from my graduating class, at least three were sibling legacies, and at least two of those three were, in my opinion, significantly less qualified than many of the 70-80 rejected applicants. Many people at my school suspect that their acceptances were affected by sibling legacy. Obviously this is just one anecdote, and the reason for their acceptances may have nothing to do with the fact that they were sibling legacies, but maybe it can have some sort of effect? Like, if an applicant can find a way to inform admissions officers of his/her sibling legacy on the application, maybe it triggers a favorable response in the mind of that officer? I have no idea if that is true though.

Anyways, searchinggirl, as others have said, Dartmouth is a reach and the other schools are matches.

Direct legacy is the only one that will affect admissions. Having a strong student as a sibling may indicate a good upbringing, however.

I doubt that having a sibling who attends the same school will significantly push an applicant over the edge, especially if they are under-qualified.

I was aware that Dartmouth does not consider sibling legacies as actual legacies- but I do think stating it somewhere on my application will have some, at the very least MINIMAL, benefit.

Colgate is really that much of a match/“In?” I was under the impression that it was much more selective.

Also, does anyone have suggestions for other schools that are match/reaches (within the realm of possibility)?

Thank you!

Yeah Colgate is definitely match/ in. Its oretty selective but not nearly as much as a Midd or Bowdoin.
