What are my chances of getting into these universities? For those that have already been accepted or that know people who have been accepted to these universities? I'm looking into business and I'm going to be a senior after this summer btw

These are my not so good scores...hehe I won't go too into depth with everything else, this is just for you guys to get an idea of where I am~

ACT score: 28 with writing, 29 without writing
SAT score: 1860
GPA: 3.63

I've taken AP courses and Honors courses throughout the year. And I've taken a bunch of summer school classes too. Ummm as for extracurricular, I haven't done any varsity or jv stuff, just a bunch of intramurals. I've done volunteer work at numerous places, and am currently volunteering at the Rush Copley Hospital. That in short, is where I am.

So what are my chances of getting into these twelve schools? And are they good for business? Yes, I know some are really out of my league I think so yea~

Univ of Wisconsin
Michigan State Univ
Univ of Michigan Ann Arbor
Purdue
Univ of Illinois @ Chicago
Univ of Illinois @ Urbana Champaign
Northern Illinois University
Washington Univ in St. Louis
Northwestern
Penn State
Indiana Univ
Ohio Univ

Just tell me anything you know please, I'm trying to get an idea of everything so yea. Thanks a lot people~ =D

Wis- Match
Mich State-Safety
Univ Mich Ann- Slight Reach
Purdue- Safety
Univ Illinois Urbana- Match
Wash Univ St. Louis- Reach
Northwestern-Reach
Penn State- Safety
indiana Univ-Safety
ohio Univ-Safetyish

I'm not sure about the others, but i researched the ones u mentioned pretty well b4 i submitted.

I don't know about Penn State being a safety, those scores are not even above their 75th percentile. Penn State I would call more of a match, and an iffy match at that. Ann Arbor I would put solidly as a reach as well.

With those numbers, I would also call Wash Univ St. Louis a big reach. I think even with scores in the 3.7 and 2000+ range Wash Univ would still be a pretty tough reach.

What does "match" mean?

Match means that you qualify and have like a 50/50 chance

Univ of Wisconsin - match
Michigan State Univ - safety
Univ of Michigan Ann Arbor - slight reach
Purdue - match
Univ of Illinois @ Chicago- match
Univ of Illinois @ Urbana Champaign- safety
Northern Illinois University- safety
Washington Univ in St. Louis - slight reach
Northwestern - reach
Penn State- reach
Indiana Univ - match
Ohio Univ- match

ok thas cool...really univ of illinois urbana is a safety and match? nobody thinks its a reach? it's my number one choice so yea...my counselor told me that its a huge reach lol. yesss a match and a safety for it~

o yea and do any of these colleges rely heavily on essays? I think my essay will be my strong point cuz I think I have a pretty interesting/unique background.

And class rank, yea 3.63 gpa @ Neuqua Valley HS is top 25%

I did my rankings assuming you right a good essay.

hehe no problem I will~

good your chances are...strong the force is with you

lol haha I will use the force wisely*

any more ppl got any opinoins, suggestions, advice, all?

I had a 3.63 and a 29. I got waitlisted in-state at Michigan, got into Ohio U and Indiana with 6K+ per year scholarships, got into Wisconsin, got into MSU (no scholarships because i'm in-state). Considered applying to PSU, UIUC, and Purdue, but didn't, probably could have gotten into all of them.

If you apply to Wisconsin, make sure you get a couple teacher recommendations, as with them, you have a better chance of gaining admission and not being postponed, that was a mistake I made. You have competitive stats there, but that teacher rec they really look into, because it shows you are truly interested.

I'm assuming you're in-state at Illinois because NIU is on there as well as UIC. Here's what I think...

Washington Univ in St. Louis - Rejected
Northwestern - Rejected
Univ of Michigan Ann Arbor - 50/50
Univ of Wisconsin - Accepted
Univ of Illinois @ Chicago - Accepted
Univ of Illinois @ Urbana Champaign - Accepted
Northern Illinois University - Accepted
Penn State - Accepted
Michigan State Univ - Accepted with scholarship
Purdue - Accepted with Scholarship
Indiana Univ - Accepted with Scholarship
Ohio Univ - Accepted with Scholarship (automatic scholarship)

Reasoning behind the non-scholarships at UIC and NIU is because they are in-state schools, and generally speaking scholarships are for OOS students to reduce tuition. Publics try and attract top OOS students and offer them scholarships. Illinois could be a tricky acceptance, I know they want OOS applicants and could discriminate against an in-state student.

sweeeet that's good news~ much thanks to you and the other people that have responded so far! that makes me have a clearer view on things already.

anymore ppl with advice?

bumperz~ I don't want to remake thread so I'm going to bump it up if that's ok.

Are you in state in Illinois or Michigan? (I'm assuming it's one of the two)

Univ of Wisconsin - MATCH - SLIGHT REACH
Michigan State Univ - SAFETY
Univ of Michigan Ann Arbor - SLIGHT REACH - MATCH if you're in-state
Purdue - SAFETY
Univ of Illinois @ Chicago - SAFETY
Univ of Illinois @ Urbana Champaign - MATCH
Northern Illinois University - SAFETY
Washington Univ in St. Louis - REACH
Northwestern - REACH
Penn State - MATCH
Indiana Univ - SAFETY
Ohio Univ - BIG TIME SAFETY

Thanks everyone that have so far replied and reviewed my stats! I'm gonna start researching the application deadline, as well as the application price. If anyone knows the fee, please tell me~
