I'm not sure if you ever took AP Lang/Comp, but when I took it the way my teacher explained a score of a 9 (which is the highest score) on an essay was that you have to take a bit of a risk. That is similar to how a college essay is. You can be mediocre and write a well written essay about something that is pretty standard or you can take a risk. With these essays there is a chance they despise the essay, but if you really analyze the essay and make sure nothing comes off negatively (relating to the stereotypes essay) you should be fine. Also, just to answer your first question, my friend related his situation to universal issues including changed views on war. But not to digress, there is a huge difference between a calculated risk and just a risk. I mean Wharton could have said this kid is violent since he hit someone else so lets not accept him. But as long as there is resolution to a non-pc topic I think you will be fine. Also, you don't need to highlight a lot about yourself in the essay. If it reveals one meaningful thing that is better than ten mediocre things. Be careful with stereotypes, especially if you are going to try and say they are (to some extent) true. I can't say much about it now since I haven't seen the essay. Wording is very important. I can look over the essay if you'd like, as I told you previously. Hope that helps.

Seems like my thread got hi-jacked... Can anyone else comment on my chances? (The first post)

audacity is the wrong word. it connotes inconsideration. ie " the stranger had the audacity to ask me for my SAT scores"
