Chances? I am really scared...

Hello everyone! I am new to CC and I would really like everyone's advice.
I'm really worried that I can't make it to any UC's at all b/c of my junior year. Thanks.

UCSB is my dream school and I would really like to go there. I am really really scared for my junior year. I feel like I'm trying my hardest but it isn't working out especially for AP Calc. The teacher is nice and all, but he really can't teach! Right now I feel like I am going to end AP Calc with a D! Is this going to ruin my chances to make it into any of the UC's? What can I do to improve my chances? Can I take any classes to make up for the C and possible D? I am so scared...
What would happen if I get at least a 3 on the AP exam for Calc?

Any advice? Please and thank you

Your junior year is really holding you back, and if you don’t pass AP calc I suggest you take calc over at community college during the summer to show improvement. And also it wouldn’t matter if you got a 3, if you still have a D, the only thing that would do for you is give you credits for math 3A (granted you will get in). Your SATs are decent, but if you can get a 2000+ and hold an officer position in one of your clubs in senior year, then your chances will get a lot better. I honestly suggest that you take as many summer classes at your community college to boost your GPA before you apply in fall. I did that and I’m sure that’s what got me in, and I got a 3.3 just like you the first semester of jr year and I never got below a 3.83 before or after, so you should explain that in your ‘more comments’ section of your UC apps later in the year (don’t blatantly lie though). Good luck to you

I think it’s a low reach to reach… the GPA is holding you back and if you don’t do well this semester then your overall gpa will go down. I got in with a 3.8 and a 2090 with perfect Sat II subject scores. REALLY beef up your personal statements !

@tjdabeast Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I realize that I need to raise my GPA. I’m not sure if I’m able to get an officer position for senior year, but I’ll try. If I may ask, how many community college classes did you take? I really don’t know if I can raise my GPA this semester…
Even if I lie or not, how would the adcoms verify things in the personal statements?

@Helpmepleasee Was the 3.8 weighted or unweighted? Wow, congratulations on getting in! Did you end up going to UCSB?
