Is there a reason for your drop in grades sophomore and junior year? Otherwise, you have a good chance.

yeah, you'll get in

you teach debate for 4 hours a day...my suggestion would be to not blatantly lie on your application

debate is a time consuming activity...it is quite possible to spend over four hours a day on it; i know for a fact, since i spent hours doing research/speed drills/attending practice/etc each day my freshman/sophmore years...and then i moved and it all came to naught. lol.

and if he has four toc bids, i assure you he spends a lot of time on debate.

okay, listen i am sorry if you think that i was lying but i am most certainly not. 1 hour in the class period. 1 for after school 6.5 (thats what we call it), then 1 -2 hours after that as extra. If 4 comes off as a lie, i may change it to 3 to avoid that misconception. Keep in mind...misconception. I don't plan on lying about my apps. But i do thank you, even tho you were wrong, for telling me that 4 may seem to be a mistruth. I guess that for my apps it would be better if i made it 3

If you are still able to change the number of hours you say you spend debating, you have not submitted your application. Forgive me if I overlooked something obvious, but how do you intend to apply to BU after the January 3'rd deadline?

Also, not to judge your abilities, but a double major AND a minor is ludicrous for anybody.

yea, i know i can't change the boston app. Sorry for making that unclear. I am talking about for my safeties though. Such as the University of Redlands. they are a rolling admissions.

yea, i guess the double major thing may be ludicrious. But i have a passion for all 3. If i see that the minor is too much, which i may, i will prolly drop it.

but yea, is bostons poli sci major competitive for admission?

I don't know about the poltical science major at BU, but there is an easy way to circumvent all competition: Don't declare your major. The adcoms take your declaration with a grain of salt, anyway. They won't judge you by it unless you're applying to a special school or accelerated program.

The EC's are supposed to be just that - "extra". You are not supposed to count class time, if you take debate class. So by your info above, you should have put 3 hours for debate anyway, not 4. And then you say you got 28 hours total a week by calculating 4 hours a day (7 X 4). By your own explanation, one of those hours each day were class time, and you don't go to class 7 days a week. Then one hour was after school (the "6.5 period" you mention), and you don't do that 7 days a week.

So according to your own explanation, even if you accept the full 2 hours of your own time per day, your EC's should show 19 hours maximum per week, not 28.

You've got good stats and good resume, but you may want to be careful about unnecessary padding - your officer positions and awards stand out for debate, so you could have stated the real numbers and avoided the questions your hours might raise.

I think your chances are very good...not 100% but likely you'll be accepted. Plus you are from the West.
