Essays: excellent, very articulate

Recommendations: excellent

Major: neuroscience, pre-med (not very unique, i know.... but it's my passion :D )

please give me some feedback on your thoughts.. will the SAT scores bring me down? my SAT I score fits into the middle 50% of accepted students... also, do you think i might have a chance at any scholarship?

please tell the truth, i can handle it

Scholarships? I highly doubt it. You still have a chance of getting admitted though. Is this ED?

Don't put Who's Who in your applications. Adcoms would just think you're very desperate.

thanks for your honesty, and i'll keep your advice in mind

and no, this is regular decision

You still have a very good shot at it given your solid GPA and within range SAT. Just make sure the essay is great. The scholarship is only given to a select few so I wouldn't count on a scholarship. The financial aid though is great.

RD is a bit tougher, but you never know till you try. Are you apply for class of 2011?

yes, 2011
i've already finished all of the application process. just waiting for april 1st now

middle 50% is a 2160 for the class of 2010 but the average unweighted gpa was a 3.8 something so your gpa should pull you up =D

thanks, darkhope :D

arggg...i'm sorry i made a vital mistake...not average gpa but median gpa...but i doubt there is much difference between the two lol

u got as good a chance as anybody, good luck

yea...gpa is the most important factor so yea...

My suggestion, try to "scale down" that humungous list of ECs. It looks like quite a daunting for anybody reading your app. :)

This is something that has always confused me, a person with a really high GPA and a pretty low SAT(for a school like JHU) anyways. In my mind, the SATs should not be considered less important than GPA by any means. To me, it seems that it is far more likely that Tigbao's school is far easier than other high schools than the fact that TigBao might be just 'a bad test taker'.

This is unfair because all of you seem to be citing her GPA as a big factor in getting TigBao in, but isnt that unfair to all the people who go to difficult high schools, get lower GPA's but are very likely more accomplished academically?

The SAT's might affect a few 'bad test takers' but for the most part, in my opinion, they really give an idea of how credible are the student's grades in their school.

GPA is considered alongside course rigor, and her school report (which supposedly details the school and describes certain courses?) Admissions can cross check with other applicants from the school as well I believe.

Also, AP scores and SAT II's are good indications of how well a student performed in school.

SAT 1's on the other hand...well not as much as AP's. I have never applied anything I've learned in high school toward the verbal and writing sections. Math IMO is the only section I actually applied something.

shaq, it sux but i know...admission officers look at gpa as a reflection of 4 yrs and people in harder schools just suffer the nehative consequenced b/c someone can be taking only 2 aps in junior year and that can be seen as extremely rigorous b/c the school only offers 2 aps =/

usually schools don't really look at GPA as much as they look at rank. His rank is strong, I'd say.

i understand where you guys are coming from, but i took the most difficult course load that i possibly could throughout my high school career (loads of APs, honors classes in other courses that didn't offer AP)

do they look to see which high school you came from? i mean, if it's pretty competitive and high ranked, will that make a difference to the way they look at your gpa?

someone said this

I have never applied anything I've learned in high school toward the verbal and writing sections.(talking about the sat)

Thats the whole point. I really feel that regardless of where you are coming from, the sat tests basic intelligence. if you cant get a 700 on math and u have an A in ur school, then ur school gives out A's wayyy eaiser than others. It tests academic common sense.

yea...i guess besides having a good gpa rank is extremely important

ur scores r pretty low
