I feel nothing but empathy for you, because Rice was my first choice school also and I was doubtful of my credentials. Thankfully, I got in ED and I'm still ecstatic. In any case, I think your stats look very good. True, the subject tests are a little on the low side, but your SAT, class rank, course load and extracurriculars are all extraordinary. I would say that you have an excellent shot at getting into Rice. :)

You're stats are really awesome. I just got in ED and almost all of my scores were lower than yours (some significantly lower). Just show them with your essays that you are more than just numbers. Show them that you have a PERSONALITY. I think that may have helped me. I put a lot of my personality into my essays.

It's enough of a statistical advantage to make you want to apply early (33% vs 25%) I believe, but think of it like this: Rice doesn't accept anyone ED that they wouldn't accept RD. With your stats and good essays and recommendations, you have a very good shot.

Let me add to that: I think what gives you an advantage in applying ED is that by committing to Rice like that you are showing a huge amount of interest, which is a big factor when Rice makes its decisions. So make sure you show lots of interest in Rice (do your research, show them that you really do want to go here and they're far more likely to pick you over the other kid who has statistics exactly like yours but didn't show as much interest).

thanks for the info, Beef. that's really good to know. every day i regret not applying ED; i didn't realize how amazing Rice was until it was too late.
but, yes, i will definitely do the best i can.
