• Why you think you will accepted/deferred/denied: I'm the best ****ing student at my school, even though I'm not outstanding compared some of you guys. My contributions to so many various endeavors will go far.

Sorry to come off as pompous, but it's all true. I'm really, actually, a very humble person in real life.

LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK MY CHANCES ARE...
THANK YOU

"Sorry to come off as pompous"...yeh you do kinda sound like that sometimes, but if you didn't come across like that in your application you probably have a good chance.

40hrs/week for play, 9-12th grade
15 hours of work per week since 6th grade

that's 11 hours of activities each weekday. i hope you didn't put that many hours of activity on your app, because it won't fool admissions officers. they'll see right through it... how long have you actually spent working/acting?

otherwise, I think your SATs are too low for you to get in early. if you're lucky, you will be deferred, in which case you should retake your SATs pronto.

good luck

how is it possible that you are a "Professional" photographer, and when does one become one officially? Doesn't "professional" imply that you make your primary income from photography? Personally, I have some achievement in photography as well, although I wouldn't recommend writing "professional photographer" because that really would come off as pretentious and arrogant to the adcoms.
Furthermore, your SAT scores are on the low side. If you want to increase your chances of being accepted, you should definitely retake them if you can. Your academic standing probably won't stand out in the applicant pool, but I suppose your EC's will :) But as gonzoman posted before me, adcoms will not be pleased if they see that you have 11 hours of activities on weekdays. That's just impossible-- say you have about six hours of school, plus 11 hours of activity, plus a minimum four or five hours of sleep... that's ~21 or 22 hours. Then there's the time where you need to practice singing and tennis, since you're captain for both... they will see through it unless you clarify somehow.

Hmm...well for every inquiring mind, I did qualify that indeed I only did 40 hrs/ week in theatre for approximately 16 weeks/year on average (some years it lasts for 5 months, others only three). And the work, too, is an average--40 hrs/ week during the summer and about 5-10 hrs/week during the school year. I'm sorry if I offended any of you with my outstanding extracurriculars. It's sad that this has become such a big f-ing competition; all you guys see is an opportunity to nag at someone else's accomplishments, to try to find some fault so that you can justify your reason for being accepted. Frankly, if that's all you can do, then perhaps you should reconsider your worth as a candidate for such a fine institution as Yale; you don't belong.

There's really nothing to see through--all of what I said on my application is true and is corroborated by all of my recommendors. And yes--your math is correct: I do get an average of 5-6 hours of sleep a night.

But you've given my ample information: your vehement criticisms reveal your sense of a threat and that tells me that, indeed, I am a strong candidate (damn, I just keep coming off as snobish and pompous as you all). Maybe none of us belong, then.

If you have any more need for clarifation, do feel free to post again. Thanks and good luck; I hope, though, you can take to heart some of what I've said.

Oh and as far as "professional photographer" goes: to me, professional means that you're good enough to be hired and that you make money on a regular basis. And that's what I am--a professional.

You asked for your chances; the caring and attentive people of this forum gave you their honest opinions, no antagonism intended or imparted, and you respond saying that:

"[their] vehement criticisms reveal [their] sense of a threat and that tells me that, indeed, I am a strong candidate"

First off, peoples' criticisms are not "vehement" as you say. If you actually look at your qualifications compared to the average Yale applicant, you'll find that you are not outstanding: You are not a minority. You don't have a hook (let alone know what one is). Your boards are considerably low. You have a high GPA but your school sounds like a joke. You RAVE about your essays and things of that nature, but you show us no reason to like you as a person or to believe that you are as exceptional as you say. You need to stop and reflect. You aren't a threat.

Oh, and by the way: This forum is meant to be constructive and helpful. I've only been here a short while but from what I have seen, the people are kind and caring and not at all self-involved. If you're looking for competition, go somewhere else.

Notwithstanding what I've just told you, I think you can rest assured that:

you ARE snobbish,
you ARE obnoxious,
you ARE arrogant,
you are ABSURDLY defensive--you're frequent usage of "f**" indicates not only your immaturity but the anger you feel towards your parents. Probably from your urge to reenter your mother’s womb and take pictures, or maybe stage *Hamlet. Get a therapist. You don't belong at Yale, you don't even belong at Penn; I think Tufts is more in your range.

And you ARE a bad person! Become a better one!

I'm really sorry to all of you. I've made a complete fool of myself and everything I've said has been so hypersensitively analyzed. I think this entire thread has just gone downward and I'd like to, as the person who started it all, stop it. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but I too was also quite offended. I understand if you don't forgive me, but let's at least stop the attacks on one another. I'd delete it all if I could, but I can't. Thank you and, again, I apologize.

I don't think you'll get into any ivies.

you're right lanzabelle.

lol
note to self: dont post "what are my chances" that include my commentaries on my activities e.g. "Awesome, Amazing, Wonderful, Excellent"
