Chances? I'll Chance Back!

So I know people absolutely hate these, but I just want to know if I have a reasonable shot at these schools before I waste $60 or more applying:

Northwestern University (should've applied ED, I know)--1ST CHIOCE
Emory University
Wake Forest University
U of Michigan-Ann Arbor
University of Southern California
WashU-St. Louis
Georgetown

Teacher Recommendation: One extremely good one and one okay one. I'm thinking about replacing the okay one with a reccommendation from my boss though.
Counselor Rec: excellent
Additional Rec: Possibly my boss?

I would say that you have a good chance at all of those school. although wake forest out of state is kind of a crap shoot. Your academic statistics and test scores are definitely impressive. You’ve got a pretty rigorous curriculum with a lot of extracurriculars. I would think that even with a mediocre common app essay you would have a good chance at all of those schools. I would predict a 75% chance of getting into Northwestern.

Northwestern University-in
University of Southern California-in
Georgetown-may be reach

Please chance me!

oh oops I just realized I spelled “choice” wrong.
anyway thanks guys!

anyone else?

Northwestern University - reach
Emory University - high match
Wake Forest University - low match
U of Michigan-Ann Arbor - low match
University of Southern California - low match
WashU-St. Louis - low reach
Georgetown - reach

Your statistics are strong, and you are a solid applicant, but I’m afraid that your race and your lack of national awards might hurt you a bit at the top schools, where the admissions come down to things like that. Your Common App essay (according to you) might be a negative factor as well. Regardless, you are going to succeed wherever you end up.

Emory University – Admission
Wake Forest University – Admission
U of Michigan-Ann Arbor – Admission (Possibly Low Reach)
University of Southern California – Low Reach (A lot of Cali Competition)
WashU-St. Louis – Reach
Georgetown – Reach

Both Washington University and Georgetown are reaches for anybody, no matter how good your scores are.

And your academics are looking good. You have a solid GPA and test scores.

I would be a little worried about Northwestern though. They’re really interested in communication skills, and if your essay is a little weak, that could be an issue for them. Make sure you have a good interview and solid recommendations.

Good Luck!

Chance Back, Please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/834647-interested-northwesterns-medill-but-i-dont-have-top-grades.html</a></p>

Emory University ( Low reach)
Wake Forest University (Mid-high reach)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/836457-chance-student.html</a></p>

I don’t really know much about the schools you listed but your grades and scores are really good. Personally tough I wouldn’t recommend majoring in Psychology. So many people do and it’s hard to find a good job in that field.

I agree with @juniorbacon23. My dad was a Psych major, and I think his first job after college was working as a stock broker… I mentioned to him I had some interest in Psych and social sciences and he said that those degrees are basically worthless.

If you’re 100% sure that your want to go into Psychological research or something like that, then go right ahead, but otherwise… it’s really not worth it.
