Chances in Communications

I know, I know. Here we go again.

I am currently a Senior, looking to major in communications, specifically media studies or TV/Film/Video. I am looking into:

BU
U Miami
Syracuse
Ithaca
American
Emerson
Penn State-main

I go to a normal public High school. My GPA is uw 3.22, weighted 94/100 (3.7?) 45/226-uw 25/226-w SAT 1330/1600 V-680 M-650

I have taken probably not the toughest courses, but just a step below. Only 1 AP junior year, the rest honors and 1 CP class. This year, 2 APs, the rest honors. Academics brought down by sophomore year-extreme medical problems, 3 months out of school.

Obnoxiously active in TV/ communications extracurriculars and community service. Strengths in Humanities. Awesome rec’s, OK essay ( having trouble with it right now).

I feel like these are all reaches except maybe Emerson… I don’t really know. I am just looking for input on these schools and suggestions for safeties. Any Ideas?

Thanks.

Those are all really good schools for communications. I think American is more like a target, and if you work on your essay none of your credentials seem like they would "hold you back" individually.

I am very nervous about this. Anyone else have any thoughts?
Thanks.

My daughter is applying to the exact same schools with the exception of Emerson and BU (doean't want to go to NE). She's is also looking to study communications.
Don't sell yourself short, your SATs and GPA are just fine as is your class rank.
You have a shot at each of the schools on your list, I don't think any of them are huge reaches. As a matter of fact, American and Ithaca should be considered safe matches and Syracuse will be close.
Good luck to you..maybe you'll meet up with my daughter at one of the schools.

I have been very impressed with the programs at all of these schools. Thank you for your input, and good luck to your daughter!
