Chances in getting into Exeter, Andover, SPS, Deerfield, Choate, or Hotchkiss?

I have received my SSAT scores.... (little disappointing)
The total was 87%
I played:
flute: 4 years
Percussion: 1 year
Piano: 6 years
I play tennis (3 years), soccer (2years), and basketball (1 year).
I have 4 A's and 2 B's... =(
I did good in my interviews and wrote well in my essays
I hope to get good teacher recommendations....
I also have 2 cousins who already went to Andover.....

Nothing really stands out; although being a legacy at Andover might help a bit…
Um. Well, since you can’t miraculously sprout 108324 more ECs with depth, I’d recommend ACING those essays. Since you’re done them, get lots of insight, get them proof-read and evaluate every single sentence separately. Check if there are better synonyms you could use for words, make it more fluid… Eh.

Um, since you seem like a good musician, send in a CD! You don’t really have much else to go on (sorry, just being harsh/realistic here)

This is just my opinion, though. Heh. :stuck_out_tongue: Best of luck!

Unfortunately, having cousins who attended does not make you a legacy.

^ Agreed, i have a cousins whos a SPS grad. I’m not writing it on my application. I think it looks a bit pretentious. Would you consider a grandfather to be a legacy? My grandfather and uncle both graduated from Hotchkiss.

yes that makes you a legacy as it is direct descent.

Yes, having a grandparent (not an uncle) who attended makes you a legacy.

sorry i can’t help but agree with divealive. however, i’m not saying you don’t have a chance, because you do, it’s just that it will be difficult competing with other candidates.

however, i think one of the most important things in the whole process is that by the end of it, the admission officer feels like they know who you are. so let your personality show through as much as possible and you’ll have a good chance!

good luck!

Thanks guys… I hope you all get in as well. =)

AK1234, did you get into any of those schools? where are you now?
