PSU (Smeal) is my first choice, I heard they are very heavy on GPA, so is mine good enough?
Thanks!
I wouldn’t put down Smeal. Just go in DUS (undecided). They told us this year that the direct admit to Smeal this year was 11 percent. My son had a 4.0 unweighted GPA and still had to do summer for Smeal admit.
Through DUS, you will complete your business entrance to major requirements by the end of sophomore year, and if you have a 3.2 gpa or 3.5 for finance, you will transfer to Smeal and officially declare a business major.
@Lupa123 If you go in DUS, just tell your advisor you want to major in finance. You need to complete entrance to major courses and get a 3.5 or better in those courses. I would check the gpa requirements because I heard they are going to higher the gpa for finance next year. It’s just really competitive for a direct admit to Smeal. You would have a better chance getting into PSU if you go undeclared and also put down that you are willing to do the summer session.
@lupa123 yes, same exact opportunities as long as you do your requirements. Technically, everyone is pre-smeal, even my son who was a direct admit. You need between 44-59 credits to actually declare your major in business and also the gpa and class requirements to be “in” your business major. Just make sure you work with your advisor as soon as you get one. Rules are always changing for Smeal.
