Chances, interesting situation

Hello everyone! So I have found myself sitting with lower stats than I had anticipated and certainly lower than i am capable of. My sophmore year my father was diagnosed with cancer and it really affected my family and threw my focus off at school. I just finished my junior year (which was insane in terms of academic rigor) and i am sitting now with sigh a weighted 3.6 - 3.7 GPA. Between a poor performance in AP Calc (I'm not the math star my middle school teachers thought I was when the skipped me) and a couple of classes I was on the cusp of an A or a B and unfortunately ended up with a B has left me in this GPA situation.

I've only taken the SATs once but plan to take them at least one or two more times. I got a 1420 this first time, but hopefully can raise it at least a bit more.

My extra curriculars are very good, president of 4 clubs (drama, a capella, Interact [service club], Improv Club] and very involved (officer positions) in 3 other clubs (Conservation Crew, Sandwich Club [hunger fighting service club], and film club). I am the producer (for two years now) of the student night of one act plays, I run our school's "Fallfest" event (student talent show basically) and I am VERY active in drama (every production basically) in our award winning drama dept. I have received many accolades for drama in district and state competitions and perform frequently in the community.

My volunteer hours have come mostly from working in children's theatres and local non profit theatres as well as many hours working in the soup kitchens and with environmental clean up crews through the aforementioned Service clubs at my school (all in all well over 300 hours)

My school is a public magnet [college prep] and almost all of my classes are APs or IBs as I am a part of the IB program at my school. I have taken an extremely difficult course load and unfortunately did come out with the aforementioned GPA.

Both of my parents went to UF.

So...what are my chances?

also, i have worked during the summers for the past 4 years and work every weekend during the school year.

just side note

Assuming 1420 was your math+verbal, I wouldn’t be too worried.

I would really appreciate any other advice you all have to offer. Thanks so much!

Your SAT will help you.
Both your parents being UF alumni will help you.
Extra-curriculars are really good showing lots of leadership…
Though your weighted GPA isn’t super high, your difficulty of course load will help you.
I’d say you’re in! Good Luck!

Decent chance, but have a safety school ready.

I have no idea why you are worried. you are a shoe-in assuming you write a good essay. although you may not have the highest gpa, you have SAT score + leadership + legacy

Please don’t tell folks there are. Go back to the rejection threads of previous years. LOTS of great hi-stat kids who didn’t get in.
If you are applying to UF, do the best you can, write the best essay you can, and have a safety you’ll be happy with. With budget cuts there may be fewer spaces next year. They are not all going to 1400+ 4.0+ students with great ECs.
To the OP: your experience with your dad had a huge impact on you in many ways. If you can communicate who you are in your essay, you’ll have a better chance.
