Personally, many people from my school gets into Ivy Leagues every year and I was fortunate enough for some of my 2011 graduates to let me be there during their long difficult application process and everything…
The thing I learned is that scores are important, but they are NOT the deciding point. My friend got into Harvard this year, and believe it or not, she got in with 1800 SAT score. She didn’t get all 5’s on her APs. I think it’s about time that not only people just rely on numbers, but actually look at the person. What’s the point in having a genius with a cold heart or living all alone?

So you know what? Yes, your scores are lower than many applicants, but that doesn’t mean you will have any lesser chance of getting in if you are an awesome person, enthusiastic and engaging. We are 17-18, and we are probably (hopefully) gonna die around 90-100. Plenty of time to improve “numbers”. But it’s intellectual ability of students that actually brings something into these high standard colleges.

Go ahead and apply. To CC, scores are the deciding factor. In actuality, scores are not THAT important. I hate exaggerated chance posts (help!! I have a 2100 and 3.8 GPA! Should I just settle on community college?". Really, apply and i’m sure you’ll get into at least 1 or 2 top schools.

It may be popular opinion that colleges rate essays and other more “subjective” factors as highly as grades and scores, but at the Ivies it’s the scores (and the type of school you attended) that really matter.
