It's my first time posting anything like this so I might have done some parts wrong. I've been stalking CC for a while now though, so hopefully I did everything correctly xD
Let me know if you have any other school recommendations for a good 4-year business program!

I can tell you right now that you’re going to have a difficult time getting into the public universities (that are outside of Texas) since they accept a very small pool of students from out of state. And financial aid probably won’t be extended to you if you go to an out of state public university, so just be aware of the cost.

And, from one Asian to another, realistically your ethnicity doesn’t help you much either.

However, if you were coming from in-state, I would have told you that you have a reasonably good chance of getting into Berkeley. Good GPA; good SAT I; good ECs. I would say, though, to start thinking about your life experiences, and try to identify some key ones. I don’t know anyone here at Berkeley who has led an extremely sheltered life – we all have a tale to tell or can at least tell you why our innocuous experiences are actually rather profound. These are the kinds of people the Berkeley admissions team likes to see in their pool of applicants – people who have not only excelled academically but have also lived. I don’t see a reason why you shouldn’t apply to Berkeley or any of the other public universities. Just know that, as public universities, your chances of coming from out of state are slim.

NYU seems like a safety school with your GPA/ECs/etc. and I’d consider USC a match for you, although I don’t know how well regarded their business school is. USC has been building up its reputation, but I don’t know how competitive their business school is at the moment. You may have to look into that. I would have considered the other public universities (maybe with the exception of Berkeley) to be good safety or match schools for you as well, except for the fact that they’re all out of state. Again, this lowers your chances substantially.

Yes, I know that out-of-state public schools would probably give me little financial aid, in fact the only school that I think would give me considerable aid would be USC. But I’m a bit of a dreamer, so I’m thinking that if an education in a great oos program will get me into higher places in the future, then I might try for it.
You’re a Berkeley student, I presume? If I had been in-state, Berkeley would have been closer to the top of my list for sure. But being from Texas, UT is my safety, though I’m not too sure on my chances in getting into Business Honors there.
You’ve kind of made my day saying that NYU is a safety school for me haha. That makes me more confident in applying there now!
Thank you so much for replying(:

Is NYU known for giving out poor financial aid packages? I can’t seem to recall. Your SATs seem on par with students admitted into NYU, but I think your GPA and hopefully ECs would make you more of a shoo-in. The great thing about NYU in terms of business is that it has a Great Location. For Berkeley, you’ll have Silicon Valley; for USC you’ll have L.A. But neither are smack-dab in those ideal locations, whereas NYU generally is.

I couldn’t tell you much about the other unis you’ve listed, sorry, although my friends who go to UT like it there :)

After reading about it in CC, I think it’s not that packages are horrible, but that they don’t cover the high cost of attending well enough. NYC is expensive to live in, but the location of NYU is also the reason why it’s my number 1 right now so I guess I can’t really complain haha.

Anyone else have any input? :)
