Chances into the following

Hello to all and good luck for those in the similar situation I am in. Anyways basically I want to know what my chances are into the following schools are correct (this was from speculation between counselor and myself):

Reaches

Georgetown
Bowdoin
Colby/Bates (closer to good matches though according to counselor)
Brown
J.Hopkins (ultrareach)

Good Matches

Gettysburg College
Bucknell
Dickinson
Wheaton
Trinity College (CT)
Providence
Villanova
Boston U.
American U.
Fordham

Safety Schools

UPITT
Fairfield
UCONN
....and others...

I know my GPA is very low but that is solely due to some poor art grades and a bad bio grade. Also, these projections come from a very competitive private high school in CT (choate or Hopkins ring a bell?) I plan to major in History and minor in philosophy. My history grades are as followed (Un-weighted)

grade 9: western-civilizations I: 90
grade 10: western-civilizations II honors: 88
grade 11: A.P. US Histroy: 98
grade 12: TBD lol

well there ya go...

bumpbumpbump

I am not sure I would count Pitt as a safety unless your intention is to attend one of the branch campi (Johnstown, Titusville, Bradford), especially since you are oos. Otherwise, you look like you have great stats (not that spooky gpa, of course! :^) ) I might have considered Gettysburg and American safeties with your scores.

Good luck.

What is your class size, gender, and ethnicity?

How is there such a big difference between your GPA and your SAT/ACT? If you could justify that to the adcoms somehow then you probably chanced yourself rather well. Otherwise, it could actually be bad for you to have that happen. It might show that, while you're bright, you can't carry through.

@Gaffe, I like how you've trained an entire year of collegebound to think that gender will make a significant difference (at least for the colleges that he listed)

The OP goes to a excellent private school, Choate, so admissions are much different.

i am male, asian (indian) and attend Choate Rosemary Hall. Yeah the low GPA is due to mainly to 2 things: 1- Choate I believe is the most rigorous private school in CT. 2- I have 2 or 3 terrible grades that bring down my GPA (however I'd say that the GPA is due mainly to the first one).

Thanks for your input guys.

bump ugh 10 characters

i doubt the reaches but the other colleges seem good

i actually think you have a chance at your reaches.

even brown and hopkins. just make sure your recs and essays shine

youre sat and act are definitely (if not more) in the range of their usually candidates

edit: i got the correct percentile I am in (Top 20%), but just barely. grrrr....choate.... also Lehigh came up as a good match and brown is on that border as well (both due to wrestling)

I'm not sure how accurate those are though because I haven't checked with my consular. Is that the right idea?

Also I'm taking the SAT II Literature on Oct. 6 and plan to achieve at least a 700...

bumprz....

Why dont you add Tufts as a reach? It is very similar to many of the other reaches you have up there (Brown, Gtown, JHU).

Youre test scores are great, there is a theory that adcoms don't like to see such a difference in test scores and GPA...they might think you lazy. you might as well try

tufts actually came up as a good match but I haven't really looked into it. I also realize that I have been lazy, but hey a 4.0 this semester could help a bit right? lol.

No, Tufts is a reach.

ok thanks anyone else? still haven't created a good list. So far my top choices are Brown and Gettysburg.
