NYU seemed to be a reach for me, and alot of people seemed to have gotten the "Sunday at the Square Invitiation" already, but I still have a tiny shred of hope. What do you guys think?

(For CAS)
Male
From Chicago suburbs
34 ACT (35 if combined, which NYU supposedly does)
NO SAT II's!--(I was hungover...600/670 so I didn't send--but on the site they said I'd still be considered)
3.0UW/3.7 Weighted--top 24%--I know, pretty gross
4-AP Eng. Lang.; 3-AP US
All honors/AP Clases
decent extracurriculars/recs
spend a while on essays (though, I found a typo in one of my short statements)

I'm thinking that since I didn't receive an invite for GSP or that square thing that I will be denied...we'll see

With how abitrary all these acceptances seem to be these days, there's always a chance. However, I wasn't too worried about getting accepted, but I only got into GSP. I'm not going to say anything about the likeliness of your acceptance (it's ridiculous to have your peers judge when, in actuality, we know so little about the admission process), but here are my basic stats:

Applied to CAS
SAT: 640 V, 660 M, 700 W / 2000 total
SAT II: 610 US Hist, 700 Lit
3.7 uw / 4.2 w
4 AP Eng / 3 AP US
EC: strong involvement in journalism, asb, key club
Recs: solid
Essay: solid

I'm curious about what people here on CC think about your rank. From my school, with your rank, you'd get in (not talking about your GPA, though).

I think that the gpa is a little low, regardless of the rank. A 3.0 means either almost all Bs or some grades below Bs. Looks like a .7 differential means a lot of weight is given to honors grades ( I'm 3.7, 4.0 taking almost every honors, AP course offered). I think that things are very competitive and that a B average is a bit of a problem. But I do wish him/her luck. You never know.

does anyone have an idea about my chances for getting in to nyu. I have:
3.2 GPA
1200 SAT V:340 M:460 V:400
Extracirccular: JV baseball, JV basketball, Varsity Handball, some other community stuff

Race:Chinese, Italian, Irish (wierd I know)

AP U.S history
Some honors classes

Im only a sophmore now, so can anyone give me a clue on what I need to bring up to raise my chances into getting into nyu

You need to raise all of your SATs by 200-300 points each. You really want all sections to be atleast 600 at minimum, closer to or above 700 is much better. Also, if you can bring your GPA weighted up to a 3.5 or over and increase APs that will help.

To the person who commented on my showing up to the SATII's hungover, you're probably right. However, NYU is the only school of mine that requires SATII's (and not my FIRST choice), so it wasn't necessarily imperative that I excel. I'm just incredibly curious to whether I'll be accepted. If I am, I'll definitely visit to decide whether the exorbitant tuition is worth it.

FYI, for any other underacheivers that may be curious, I've been accepted to Loyola Chicago, UIUC, and Wisconsin-Madison. Btw, I'm not some kind of crazy alcoholic. That was my one and only hangover, and it just so happened that I had to be at some high school 45 minutes away the next morning.
