Chances/Match for Steinhardt ED?

I'm a senior at High School this fall, so I'm wondering. I want to apply ED to Steinhardt for Music Education, Voice specifically. I am absolutely certain that I want to go to NYU, so ED is the perfect option for me.

I'm a very strong writer so I know my essay will definitely work to my advantage.

I'm quite confident in my audition, and I regularly have voice lessons to practice my repertoire for the audition

As for the academics:

GPA: 3.9 UW
Student at a competitive NY public school
I believe I'm in the top 10%, but I'm not completely certain since we didn't get the top students list yet. I'm definitely in the top 15%, however.

My SATs are definitely not my strong point, though I'm hoping if I retake them and score a little higher (about 100 points), my audition and GPA will carry me.

SAT I: 1760 (Retaking in October, hiring tutor. I'm aiming for an 1850-1900 which I would say is a good score for an ED applicant w/audition, since it is the median)
SAT IIs: 640 Lit, 550 History (retaking History in Nov, ugh. Aiming for 640. Though I'm not relying on my SAT IIs because I'm not required to have them, considering my audition. Just want some extra boosting.)

I'm planning on taking the ACTs because I heard they're a bit easier for people who are good at verbal, but not so great at math. And the math is what lower my score on the SATs.

Taking a heavy course load this year:

AP Art
AP English
SUPA Participation in Government (SUPA is a college credit course, like AP in difficulty)
Economics
Honors Choir
Music Theory
Marine Bio
Pre-Calc
Psychology

As for EC:

Nation Honor Society Member (woo NHS~)
Honors Choir (I am going to apply to become Vice President/President of the group this fall, I'm very serious about the choir)
Tri-M Music Honor Society (Leadership Position: Executive Board) - 3rd Year as a member
Art Honor Society - 3rd Year as a member
Model Congress
Key Club
Job at TJ Maxx (Do jobs count as an EC? I hear mixed things, but it shows responsibility, so I suppose I'll add it!)

Okay then. Would you say I am a match? Match-reach? Thank you. :]

I'd say match if you improved your test scores. Try taking the ACT, also- I've heard that students who don't do well on the SAT can do very very well on the ACT.

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=371839

Yeah I think you're a match if you improve your scores. One girl from my school applied to Steinhardt for music and got in with nearly identical stats...she got a 1900 on her SAT and 680+ on her SAT II's. She was like music guru in my grade though.

Thank you, guys!

hey did you get in?
