<p>Hey, I'd really appreciate any feedback on my chances for these schools: </p>

<p>UPenn (Wharton), Georgetown, Emory, NYU, Dartmouth, and Columbia.</p>

<p>Senior at a Catholic school in Atlanta, GA.
Half Latino (Colombian)
Interested in either Politial Science or Business (Strategy/Consulting)</p>

<p>GPA:
-W: 4.14
-UW: 3.9
(My freshman year, I got 2 Bs first semester and 3 Bs second semester. I've gotten all As since then. Will they take the positive trend into consideration?) </p>

<p>SAT:
CR: 760
M: 690
W: 710
2160/1450
(I'm considering retaking it. Think it'll help?)</p>

<p>Class Rank:
My school doesn't give rank. My class has about 250 students if that makes any difference.</p>

<p>-200 service hours working in various ministries for the poor with my church</p>

<p>-100 service hours with the National Honor Society. (Tutoring, food drives, etc.)</p>

<p>-Boy Scouts:
My Eagle Scout project, a total of about 130 man hours, involved clearing out a local park that had become pretty much unusable and repairing alot of its benches, stone walls, etc. </p>

<p>I also helped organize and lead an inter-troop outreach program in which our troop (which is fairly wealthy) regularly took an inner city troop on various trips and camp outs that it normally wouldn't be able to participate in.</p>

<p>Work Experience:</p>

<p>-Summer Internship at the State Department.</p>

<p>ECs:</p>

<p>-Debate Team (Captain): National Qualifier, State Finalist</p>

<p>-Model United Nations (Captain): Various delegate awards</p>

<p>-School Newspaper (Editor-in-Chief): I was always fighting with the school administration in this position to print articles that were critical of school practices or that brought up certain issues such as homosexuality. I think this experience would make for a great essay.</p>

<p>-Investment Club (Founder and Co-President)</p>

<p>-Rotary Club (Founder and Co-President)</p>

<p>-National Honor Society Member</p>

<p>-Lion Leader (mentor for freshmen students)</p>

<p>-Boy Scouts: Eagle Scout (Gold Palm), Historian, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (Acting Senior Patrol Leader many times), Philmont Crew Leader </p>

<p>Other:</p>

<p>-I earned 6 college credits at a summer program at Georgetown. (I took International Relations and American Political Systems)</p>

<p>-Honor Roll (90 average or above) during Freshman Year </p>

<p>-Principal's List (95 average or above) Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year</p>

<p>-Journalism Department Award</p>

<p>Rec Letters:</p>

<p>-My AP US History and AP English teachers really like me, so they should give me great letters. </p>

<p>-I've gotten to know my guidance counselor fairly well, so hers should be good too. </p>

<p>-I could also send an additional one from my debate coach, newspaper advisor, state department supervisor, or one of my georgetown professors.</p>

<p>All those schools minus NYU are reaches. I’d retake the sat and hope for a 2200+ to be somewhat competitive for those schools. The rest of your app is pretty good though. Maybe consider a few match/safety schools (don’t know if that was your whole list)</p>

<p>hmm. I think you have a solid shot at Georgetown and NYU. You seem like a good applicant, but IVY leagues are SO unpredictable. That is why I say that the rest are reaches. If you can bring ur SAT up to 2250-2300, ur chances will go much higher. Also, think about applying early. For penn, RD % is 14 whereas ED % is 31.6. Good luck!

<p>I think they are all basically low reaches, with the exception of NYU. However, your URM status will help you at all of the schools, placing your chances in a much greater position. I think you are IN at NYU and have a good shot at all of the rest, with reaches at Penn, Columbia, and Dmouth.

<p>Your UWGPA is hella impressive, I’d say def retake your SAT and take some SAT2s. Your ECs and recs seem solid (quite a bit better than mine :P). But yeah, a hundred or two more on your SAT score would put all of those schools well in reach. You’re already in NYU as far as I’m concerned.</p>

<p>I think you have a positive chance for all of these schools. The only schools where you may get rejected from are the ivy league ones, but with your scores, it seems as if you have a decent chance for all of them.</p>

<p>URM status will definitely help you in all admissions.
I’d say low reach for all of the ivies you listed.
But a solid match for the rest.
Raise your SAT to a 2200+ and you could potentially get into all of the schools listed.</p>

<p>Most of them are mid to low reaches, NYU and Georgetown excepted, although you do seem like you’d have a very stirring topic for an essay. Good luck.</p>
