What do you think?

Also for my advice. Do you think because I'm applying for engineering my ACT only hurts me, the science being so low? I took another ACT where I scored a 29 on science but all my other scores dropped, reading=30, writing=27and math stayed the same.

So should I just send in my SAT scores and not the ACTs? Or do you think the ACT compensates for my low reading score.
Any thoughts are appreciated

ECs: Over 200 hours of community service
-Captain of the Varsity Tennis
-150 hours doing volunteer first aid (providing basic life support at large events in the D.C. area)
-Taught Chinese to elementary school kids
-Officer of a few clubs

I would probably send them both, since you did better on some sections and vice versa. I think your chance of acceptance is good but a little iffy without knowing your class rank or decile and seeing your ECs. If price is no object, Michigan is a great school. If you have some financial need requirements, you might want to become a Terrapin rather than a Woverine.

So you think the ACT won’t hurt me in terms of applying for the School of Engineering?
I added ECs if that’ll provide any extra information. And my school does not participate in class ranking.

I don’t think you have to send your ACT scores. My S, who was accepted to UMich Engineering last year and who also got a 32 (the first time taking it) opted to only send his SAT scores. We live in CA and he decided to go to Cal instead. Make sure you apply by the 11/1 EA deadline if you want an answer by 12/23.

I wouldn’t worry too much if I were you, you should be fine because that GPA is very strong. Michigan cares about the GPA the most and your test scores are pretty good as well. I think you should probably send in your ACT because your math and english scores are both pretty strong there while your SAT writing isn’t quite as strong. Science and reading don’t really count for too much. Just make sure you have good essays and recs and I think you’re good to go.
