Hey everybody,
I’m a high school senior, and I’m trying to decide where to apply, and where to apply early. I’ll have around a 3.7 unweighted gpa at the end of high school, around 4.55 weighted. I got 2290 on the old SAT, a 35 on the ACT, and am going to take the new SAT to try and get as good of a testing profile as I can. I got an 800 on the SAT 2 math 2, and a 770 on the SAT bio. I went to one of the top STEM high schools in the country, so my course load looks pretty good (I think; quantum physics, linear algebra, a bunch of high-level bio classes, etc). I also interned in a Parkinson’s disease research lab over the summer, and will have a good rec from the PI of that lab.
As for ECs, I’m a captain of my school debate team, and was among the top 200 debaters to make NSDA nationals, and go to a bunch of big debate tournaments. I also was an outdoor camp counselor for a few summers, and have been on soccer, baseball, and basketball teams my whole life. I’m also a black belt in tae kwon do, and won a few tournaments sparring in that. I’m an upper-middle class white guy, so no diversity points for me. Assuming I have good recs and can write good essays, what are my chances at the top schools i’m thinking about, and where should I apply early (If anywhere?)
Thanks
Schools I’m probably going to apply to (In order of top choice)
Columbia University
University of Chicago: 2 legacies
Cornell University: 4 legacies (Yes, seriously)
UC Berkeley
Carnegie Mellon
Washington in St. Louis
UCLA
(A few safeties I’m confident I’ll get in to)
