Idk if transfer is different than Ed with aid and stuff but I’ve met 2 transfer students who got a good amount of aid with a 3.3-3.5 gpa …
Please don’t try to compare your potential aid with what anyone else got in the past. That won’t work.
Are your parents still married? Do they work regular w2 jobs? Do they only own your primary residence? If yes to all three…did you run the net orice calculator for any of these colleges?
Or are you very certain that your parents can afford possibly $80,000 a year for you to attend some of these colleges…especially since it sounds like you are the first of five children they need to plan for?
Did you apply for financial aid?
Confused. Is OP a transfer student ? Thought we are talking about a first year.
My comments are related to first year. Hope OP finds a path for where they want to go. They might look at the Frederick Douglas Scholarship at AU although from what I read above not a candidate. But it’s a full ride.
Op asked if should go test optional. If they give an option to change then yes.
The 25% percentile is 30 points above the OPs score.
And applying ED simply bcuz a friend did, knowing nothing about the campus - not a good reason.
In some ways getting turned down will be your best friend assuming your family has financial strain. At 17 you don’t realize it. But you will later.
Hoping you have a full and complete list. Good luck.
Of course I applied for financial aid
Yes I ran the NPC thing…
I already know not to compare and etc I’m just saying…
My parents aren’t married
But they do have good jobs
I’m not even planning on going to any other uni besides Japanese universities and they would be for free
Well…Hang in there and wait for your ED decision. If you can visit, then do so. If not, well…you can’t and that’s that.
It sounds like you have an affordable option in Japan. Are you also a Japanese citizen? Good to have options.
Haha I think it’s the opposite
I mentioned AU to my best friend and she liked the idea of there too
We both did our own research on this…
I’ve spent a couple months thinking about this before I was dead set on going to a Japanese uni but I think AU has more opportunities than a Japanese one plus I’m closer to home
Nah I’m not a Japanese citizen but I’ve been training for the mext scholarship it’s a full ride basically to japan for ur whole undergrad
Well if they’d let you switch I’d go TO. Your SAT is another strike against you. And if you chose first then why the dependence on the friend ?
Well me and my friend have been friends for over a decade however she moved away 3 years into our friendship but we both talk daily and always had a silly promise we would be together again for awhile
It’s not a HUGE deal if she got in and I didn’t but I would feel a bit bad if I didn’t get in
Well…your application has been submitted, right? So now it’s a wait and see.
You might want to apply to one other sort of sure thing college that isn’t so far away…just in case you change your mind about being so far away…or if that doesn’t work out.
I’m a bit confused when u guys have been saying the deadline past unless I messed up extremely bad Common App says it’s Nov 15 ;-;
I just checked the American website…which should be the source…not the common AP. The ED 1 deadline i saw is November 15. Not sure where that poster got November 1.
Good luck to you. I think your biggest decision before you submit is whether to go test optional…or not. It would be one thing if you had a very very strong GPA. Yours is good, but not completely out of line with your SAT score.
Yeah I think I’m gonna do test optional
I’ll update you guys when the results come out
ありがとうございます😊
You are correct - the ED1 deadline is Nov. 15.
