I am a senior from the Philadelphia Area who applied Regular Decision to Wake Forest. My SAT's are 620 CR, 600 Math, 620 Writing (probably won't send them). My weighted GPA at my public high school is about a 97% which rounds off to about a 3.83 weighted gpa on a 4 point scale. I will have taken 6 AP classes by the time I graduate high school (high number for my school). My class rank is in the top 10% of my class of about 300. My EC's are also very strong: NHS member with over 165 hours of community service, member of my schools varsity baseball and soccer team, member of French Honor Society, president and founder of my schools business club, and I also had a business internship last summer as well as a great experience as a research assistant and volunteer at a major hospital. I also intend on majoring in either finance or economics.

You are within range for everything, however that is also a problem because there are a lot of applicants with your profile. I see that you are interested in finance/economics–are you in Calc?

Have you visited Wake? interviewed yet? Those factors–interest in Wake, interviews, essays, and recommendations will be important. I see you also applied to Miami EA…I imagine you will be withdrawing your application from Wake, but best of luck!

Why would I withdrawal my application? I have a tremendous liking for Wake, and just because I applied EA to U Miami does not in anyway reflect that I will be withdrawing my application from Wake.

I did visit Wake last summer, but was not able to schedule an interview. Seeing as though it is one of my top choices, would you recommend me scheduling one? If so, any helpful
tips?

I also plan on taking calc during the summer as it did not fit in my schedule, but I am taking precalculus.

Hopefully, my EC’s will help me stand out to the admissions officers.

You need to do an interview either by skype or in person. If you have the time and money, do it in person (although it doesn’t affect your chances).

Also, I went to UMiami and transferred to Wake. I can tell you about it if you’d like (there are at least 3 of us who have transferred from UM to Wake right now)

I took your advice, got an in-person interview (which went very well) and I drove all the way down to visit campus. After seeing campus, wake felt like the perfect fit for me and I decided to switch my application to ED. Will this increase my chances! Thanks for the advice!
