Also would like some suggestions on other colleges that fit my profile... I am highly competitive when I am interested in the subject matter... I'm looking to major in EEeng / CEeng / MEng or maybe mathematics.
I've also always dreamed of playing soccer for MIT... I don't know why but I'd love input... MIT is my #1 choice

thanks in advance once again
-Mike

MIT and Cornell would be a reach for you you. CMU is a slight reach, and GIT is a sure bet if you're instate.

btw, Harvard is also a strech.

MIT is always a reach. Harvard makes no sense. They are no good in Engineering. I would replace Harvard with a reach that makes better sense, like Stanford or Princeton. Besides, unlike Harvard, Princeton and Stanford do not look at Freshman grades...and you hinted you slacked off your Freshman year.

Georgia Tech, unless you are from Georgia, isn't worth looking into. It has great academics but average quality of life. Cornell is a great one. Why aren't you applying to Michigan-Ann Arbor? They are ranked among the top 5 or 6 in every field you wish to major in.

Given your stats and interests, I would apply to MIT and Stanford...maybe Princeton for your reaches.

For your matches, I would apply to Cal-Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell and Michigan-Ann Arbor.

For your safeties, I would look into Purdue-West Lafayette and Wisconsin-Madison.

So, I would recommend you look at the following schools:
Carnegie Mellon University (match)
Cornell University (match)
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (reach)
Princeton University (reach)
Purdue University-West Lafayette (safety)
Stanford University (reach)
University of California-Berkeley (match)
University of Michigan-Ann arbor (match)
University of Wisconsin-Madison (safety)

thanks for the replies so far
I was wondering if MIT would even take into consideration my having a life... I know a few people just as smart and qualified as me academically but were waitlisted... but i feel playing sports and doing more ECs pushes me over the edge in comparison to me, also any suggestions on what i can improve? (retaking the SATs..) thanks

-Mike

Visit the athletics page on the MIT website and fill out a soccer recruiting form.

Yes, they're looking for people who are completely dedicated to what they're doing, not joining a million obscure clubs, according to an alumni from there.
