W&M is my first choice school and I'm considering applying ED this fall. However, I feel like this might not help me out since I have such a low GPA and SAT (both lower than the average for W&M) and I don't want to get rejected right off the bat. What's your opinion on this? Here are my stats:

GPA - 3.6 W

Rank - top 25%

SAT I - 600 V / 600 M / 670 W = 1870 total
I'm almost positive that it will be over 2000 when I apply.

SAT II - Math IC: 600, Spanish: 660 -- should I retake these?

I'm taking the hardest courseload available and will graduate with the completion of 8 AP's and the only Honors course available.

For ECs, I have some clubs, a few leadership positions, etc. I've played the clarinet for 7 years.

I have work experience, 50+ community service hours, and I'll graduate with the honor's program seal for the school division.

Also, I have an on-campus interview tomorrow. I'll post about that later too.

Another question: Will W&M see my first semester grades from senior year?

From my one experience with W&M admissions, I think it would be better for you to hold out until RD. I'm only saying this because my friend had a similar GPA but a 1330 GPA (old) and was deferred and later rejected when he sent his application in early when another person I know who applied regular with just about the same stats but a much easier course load was accepted.

Are you instate? The stats are not very good for out of state but you have a good chance if you raise your SATs and are in state.

W&M will see your first semester grades since they should be on the transcript that your guidance counselor mails them.

Good luck.

the interview i think is key, when i applied (ED none the less) I felt like i nailed the interview and i def think it helps.

viscious, I am in-state so I know that will help me out a lot.

I went to that information session at w&m, and the admissions person said that they don't consider the SAT II's that much. They use it mostly for placement, and said that it doesn't play a factor in admissions. I'm a rising senior and hoping to get into William and Mary also. Good luck!

I did not take any SAT IIs, and was accepted into WM this past year. Obviously you don't need them.

If you apply ED, the college will not see your senior year grades because your first semester won't be finished yet.
