How are my chances getting into Rutgers University, Seton Hall, Montclair State, Rowan University, The College of New Jersey, New Jersey Institute of Technology, possibly LaSalle and maybe Fairfield University? I'm thinking of majoring in something math related if that helps at all. I'm not sure if I should take the SATs again either, if these SAT scores are good enough to get into rutgers at least i may not take it again this october.

Oh yeah, I also live in New Jersey.

I think that you have a very good chance at all of these schools, but depending upon where you live you might get rejected by TCNJ. Do you live in commuting distance from TCNJ, bc that might help you in gaining admission. If you are from Northern NJ, and a competitive hs, TCNJ is a defintite reach. I don't know how 2 study halls senior year will go over with colleges. Why not take an interesting elective instead? You might want to add another match or match/reach school unless you are satisified with your list.

I don't see any harm in trying to boost your CR score, if you want to add some more match/reach schools.

I also sent a PM to you.

Yeah, I actually live in North Jersey so TCNJ was definitely going to be one of my reach schools. Do you have any other suggestions for any other match/reach schools?

Other suggestions are greatly appreciated. I appreciate the feedback northeastmom.

I sent a private message to you. Did you open it? You can get into lots of schools. You just need to look at chances of merit aid/financial aid if this important, and you might want to consider whether you prefer small, large, city, rural, suburban, how far from home, and have a look at math offerings.

Question.

How do I look at chances of merit aid/financial aid, and how do I look for math offerings? Thanks!

Financial aid is going to be based on the profile/fafsa. How much you are gapped and how much is going to be loans vs. grants will depend upon the fafsa/profile and your strength as an applicant. Unless you are below middle class, I doubt you will get anything significant from our NJ state schools. I believe that you will be offered an unsubsidized stafford (meaning that interest is accumulating on the loan while you are in school, unless you pay the interest while in in school) if you fill out the fafsa (I say this bc I believe that everyone who fill out the forms completely and on time is offered it). As far as merit aid, that is up to a school. If you are in the top 25% of the applicant pool at a private school, you stand a decent chance of getting something in terms of aid.

Thanks for the info Northeastmom. Do you think I should take the SAT's one more time or should I just start my application process as I have not exactly started yet.

Also, am I almost definitely in at Rutgers, keeping in mind that I want a math-related major? Rutgers right now is my top college at the moment, unless there are any other suggestions out there. I'm not a big fan of cities, though I wouldn't mind.

TCNJ is a reach. def. raise them SAT scores

I would retake the SATs, but also start the application process. You can let them know that you are retaking the SATs. Ask your GC for his/her opinion. Rutgers is a match, not a safety for you. Midrange SATs in critical reading are 530-640, so you are a bit below midrange.

Retake the SAT/take the ACT. Why not? What do you have to lose?

Registered for the october SATs, fun fun. can't wait.

So how is my college list looking at the moment, any other suggestions of colleges that seem realistic according to my attributes? I wanna stay near NJ, in NJ preferably because the tuition is cheaper.
