So i think my chances aren't that great, but I want some other opinions...thanks everyone.

You know you have as good a chance as anyone else, stop trying to inflate your ego.

I'm sorry if it seems like I am trying to feel better by doing a pity post, but I can tell you that I am most definitely not. Actually, to all those who do complain that people are trying to boost their ego, I say stop complaining, they have a DAMN right to be nervous. Maybe you are unaware of the types of students that get into these colleges, but I know most have better GPAs and course selections than I do. I put up my chance thread in the off chance that I may have something else in my application that may shine to the adcom, something I have overlooked.

No to be elitist, but obviously I have a good chance at the school. BUT, i want to know how good of a chance that is. At this level of competition, there are so many "good" applicants that stats considered "good" may be average. Of course, I want other opinions on my specific grades and scores.

I am not the type of person who has to show everyone how intelligent I am. Not everyone who posts their stats and has little confidence in their chances is like that either. So before you start accusing people of trying to inflate their egos, I would suggest taking into consideration what I said and shutting the hell up.

LOL, you're cute!! <3

......bump

I'm with Steven---chance posts are pointless. How are we supposed to know if you'll get in? We should all just wait and see how it turns out and keep in mind we are your competition and we don't know any more than you do about this process.

well, that's not what xSteven was saying...but I get your point.
makes sense.

We are not an adcom... Therefore how will we know what a real adcom
will think to be shining

The only way to be sure to receive an acceptance letter is to kidnap all the admission committee when they are sound asleep in their home and replace them with robots until your application gets accepted.

Remember to induce a coma or they will know something went wrong!

^ ill be sure to give that a try!

but in all seriousness, i get it. you wouldn't know what an adcom is thinking, but almost all the other students on this forum can give chances. regardless of if they are correct or even if it matters because i already sent in my app, if people can do it, i would like some outside opinions. you dont have to, someone else can though...

so, again...chances?

I agree with everyone else.. if your applying to Duke then you should be intelligent enough to realize you have a good chance.. if not then there is a problem. You have a good chance.

First of all chances posts are useless, I never got that good of feedback, it mostly wow you have a good shot. If you want to see who gets in look at the Official Results thread to see if you stack up against them. That is probably the best chances you can do.

good idea. thanks.

I liked the commments above...at some point most of the kids that apply and have a decent shot at acceptance have stats and numbers that become ubiquitous. 2300+ on the SAT, great stats etc. At some point it becomes fit and whether the school thinks you are going to attend if tapped. I am sure they want a group of highly motivated kids.

Your Stats Put You In Good Standing. No need to worry, you've done a great job and you're bound to get into a college you love (Duke or Not).

As for the point of chances, I understand that people think it is pointless. {But}

Almost every senior I know, wants some encouragement and assurance that the work they have put in for the past four years is going to land them in a school they love.

The chance me threads on CC are overrun with people who round their gpa, sat, and act scores up so far it unbelievable. I say we reform "Chance Me" threads into "Encouragement" threads: [tagline] a place for hope, kind words, and assurance that it going to be okay.

This thread is hilarious.

^^ You're right on the money; that summarizes all that needs to be said here.

25% chance of getting in, you don't bring any spark

right well...go tell that to the tons of other posters on CC. im sure they will be more than willing to talk about why their chance threads are useless.

dmb, thanks for the chances.

Maybe folks would be more "into it" on the "what are my chances" forum.
