Your unweighted GPA is very close to mine. I go to a rigourous school as well. I think your SAT scores (both I and II) are great. Your extra carriculars show interest and commitment. The MIT internship is very impressive. However, I’m not trying to be mean but there is nothing that really distingushes you as far as Ivy League admissions go. However I think you have great shot at the rest of those schools!

Please chance me back! (i’m rather desperate at this point!) http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/832418-i-know-i-have-no-chance-but-why-not-chance-me-anyway-will-chance-back.html

Boston University - Low match
Bowdoin - High match
Brown - Low reach/High match
Carnegie Mellon University - High match
Columbia - Low reach
Dartmouth - Low reach
Hamilton - Low match
Harvard - Reach
Massachusetts Institute of Technology - Reach (Good luck to you too! haha)
Northeastern - Low match
Princeton - Reach
Stanford - Reach
Williams - Low reach
Yale - Reach

You have great stats, leadership examples, and involvement in both sports and other extracurriculars. Like you’ve noted, the GPA is a little on the low side, but hopefully your final rank will counterbalance that (if your school does rank). Your volunteering credentials are pretty strong, and if you manage to show this during your applications process, I’m sure it’ll help. The very fact that you were already involved in an MIT program will give you an edge. But then again, one never knows.

On a 1-10 scale (1 being the lowest, 10 the highest):

Boston University: 7.5
Bowdoin: solid 8
Brown: 6.5
Carnegie Mellon University: 7
Columbia: 5
Dartmouth: 6.5 (essays matter a lot here)
Hamilton: don’t know too much about this school, sorry
Harvard: 4
Massachusetts Institute of Technology: 5
Northeastern: 8
Princeton: 4
Stanford: 4
Williams: 7
Yale: 4.5

Chance me please!!

Boston University - you’ll probably get in, especially with your good SAT scores
Brown - decent chance (50%) take some SAT subject tests to make up for your GPA, this shows colleges that your school grades rigorously and that you have mastered the curriciulum
Carnegie Mellon University - in, easily
Columbia - I don’t really know enough to say
Dartmouth - decent chance (50%)
Hamilton - don’t know about this school
Harvard - Reach, you will def need SAT subject tests. are you taking AP tests? Harvard looks for rigor of schedule
Massachusetts Institute of Technology - definite Reach
Northeastern - don’t know
Princeton - don’t know
Stanford - VERY TOUGH (for anyone) you will need a higher CR score and SAT II’s
Williams - Low reach
Yale - also tough, not as tough as stanford.

excellent SAT scores. I know people on this forum tend to emphasize 2300+, but imo that’s overrated.
SAT II are really good as well.
GPA isn’t shabby, especially since your school downgrades as much as you say. However, it will still hurt a little. sorry
Your EC’s are pretty good, though not amazing.
However, your internship is imo the wow factor.
Providing your essays are excellent (no doubt that they are)

GPA is on the low side but that’s understandable at rigorous schools (I have the same problem). Other than that, everything looks great but for the really selective schools, maybe some leadership outside of sports would be nice. Good luck!
