Chances of a good these universities/colleges?

In the Fall, I will be a sophomore in high school.

I've recently received my AP Human Geography exam and I got a 3.

I took Ap Human Geography, Honors Biology, Honors Literature, Coordinate Algebra, French 1, Band( I play Bassoon) and Public Law & Safety.

I am a member of reading bowl last year and I'm going to do it again next year while being apart of science club, anime club, robotics team, and Pride club.

I also have recently received a invitation to join the National Honors Society. (which I find odd due to my GPA)

I ended the school year(my freshman year)with a 2.75 GPA.

I scored highly on all sections of my PSAT

I want to go a good university to major in philosophy, psychology, sociology, or neuroscience.

Do I have a good chance of attending a good university/college such as Princeton(or other Ivy League), Sarah Lawrence, The University Of Michigan, or The University Of Iowa.

My exact PSAT scores are:
53 in Critical Reading
46 in Math
49 in Writing

It is very hard to gauge anything so early! It is good you are thinking about colleges already, but the best thing for you to do now is work to better yourself, get good grades, and get high scores on your standardized tests when it come time to take them. Worrying about whether or not you’ll get into a college does you no good at this point.

Thank you for the advice. I was just worried since I’ve heard that you need to start early if you wanted to be accepted to a good university/college.

Oh you do need to start early, don’t get me wrong! But worrying about your chances at this point isn’t going to do anything for you. Of course you should focus on school and start building a good list of ECs and potential internships. It is hard to guess at any chances without standardized test scores. PSAT scores, while often close, do not translate exactly to what you will receive on the actual SAT. If you want my honest opinion, I would say start studying now for the SAT if you plan on taking it this coming year. Your PSAT scores are low, and equal a 1480 on the SAT, which is far below the range for top schools.

Do you have a recommendation of good SAT practice guides online or offline. I am unsure about studying these since the SAT is being changed in 2016.

If you keep up with your grades you will find it very hard to be accepted to a good university. Even if you were to get straight As and a 2300, you still would probably get rejected from Princeton due to the selectivity of the school. Bring up that gpa.

With the change in the SAT will come new study guides, so keep your eyes out for those. In the meantime, collegeboard.org offers some online practice tests. You can also download the SAT question of the day app, just to keep your brain thinking every day. There are plenty of print books as well, just google “SAT prep book” and I’m sure you’ll find dozens. And I agree, you need to bring your GPA up a lot, too.
